I don't think that's the only track where attendance at NASCAR events have declined. I think that's a big reason why there was ONLY one Sprint Cup race this year at Fontana, CA. I also think even though they now start the "Chase for the Cup" in September, attendance at Chicagoland Speedway out in Joliet has also declined in recent years and I believe Bristol, TN wasn't exactly sold out for their first NSCS race earlier this season.

My only guess for why attendance has dropped might have to do with track officials selling tickets as part of a package, not individually. I don't think that's the smartest idea considering the economy we've had in recent years and not everyone has the kind of disposable income to buy a ticket for a NSCS race, but have also had to buy tickets to other races they might not want to see.
