Good examples. Lindenhurst and Lake Villa could easily merge. Beach Park could merge into Zion with ease.

Waukegan could be part of Kenosha, then Boyd can finally have his way and live in Wisconsin.

Morton Grove & Niles ought to merge. No one really knows where that border is anyway.

Wilmete and Winetka should merge into Wilmetka.

Just annex everything north of 120 to Wisconsin, that sounds about right.

Oh this one is right in my wheelhouse.

First of all merge Wood Dale into Bensenville. Wood Dale can emerge as the "business district" of Bensenville because as someone who grew up a few blocks from Devon in Elk Grove Village, I can tell you that Wood Dale is utterly pointless.

Speaking of, ever heard of the Village of Golf? Seriously it's one subdivision between Waukegan, Harms, Golf, and what the fuck is that one street north of old orchard road? shit the village of golf ends by old orchard road anyways because there's the damn forest preserve there. The police station shares a building with the metra station. Best part? The Village of Golf police force is always looking to enforce their quotas so don't fuck around on golf between waukegan and harms. Utterly pointless yet existing for no reason.

Is there any reason for there to be a South Barrington as opposed to a Barrington? Maybe it's so the richer people can seperate themselves from the upper-middle-class stank of Barrington, so if you want to allow the rich people their special little playground just merge Sugar Grove into Aurora and you're done.

Hinsdale bugs me. If you want to be rich, move to the north shore. combine hinsdale and maywood and bellwood. Integrate the schools.

It's too confusing, as racially harmonious as it may be. You and spmack are just going to have to pantathalon to the death to decide which one stays. Either that, or rename one Forest Forest and the other one Park Park.

You can merge Oak Park and River Forest. "Some people" would like for Oak Park to start at Ridgeland. Anything east of that, especially Austin, will be considered the lowly city.

Sure I've mentioned this on the board, but I don't even like to tell people I stay in Forest Park, because they always confuse it with Park Forest, and they are on opposite sides of Chicagoland. I just tell em Oak Park, since I'm on the border and they wouldn't know or care for the difference.

I propose the full implementation of a binary system when determining what city you may or may not currently inhabit.

Let's be honest; everyone knows when they've wandered over to the other side.

When I'm walking around in Naperville and things start to look differently, you know you're not in Naper anymore. The area might still be considered Naper, but you know it isn't.

After spending a little time in Elgin and South Elgin recently, It occurred to me that South Elgin could really boost both their prestige level and collective self esteem by changing their name to Not Elgin.

Arlington Heights is more like Park Ridge. People move there and think they've "arrived" when they really haven't. Des Plaines is better grouped with Mt. Prospect and Prospect Heights than Arlington.

I don't think that's really the case except for maybe some of the highrises around the train station. My part of Arlington Heights (within Rand/Thomas/Palatine/Schoenbeck) had no misconceptions about what it was, which was plain old suburbia. It gets pretty grubby south of Central Road, anyway. That's more EGV than anything.

I thought of another one: merge Park City into Waukegan. It's actually short for "Trailer Park City," as it was founded to be an autonomous mobile home community. We don't need that.

Chus wrote:
All of the Barrington cities (Barrington Hills, Barrington Center, Barrington Woods, South Barrington, Lake Barrington) can all be part of Barrington.

Don't forget North Barrington, and my favorite of the Barringtons, "Port Barrington," which I knew as Fox River Valley Gardens until they wanted to up their prestige. And then there's Inverness, the Brian Pillman-in-the-Hart-Foundation of the Barringtons.

Carpentersville and Barrington Hills is another one that should be merged.

The whole Crystal Lake/Cary/Fox River Grove area. That's just one big suburb. Sorry Hoffy.
