have not, but those I trust like them both. Graziano's can be slow at lunch time crunch. Once in a while I walk over there at lunch. Bari is just a bit too far.

Bari delivers (so does Graziano's).

I have had them both. I like both but I think Bari is a clearly superior product. They are just better in every facet from bread to meats. If they were far apart, I could see going to Graziano's when in the area. However, they are so close that a trip to either is the same, so I would always go with Bari.

As always, the dolphin's culinary taste is impeccable. As he says, Bari's stands one or two steps above Graziano's, which is nevertheless a reliable sandwich shop. They also have a great selcection of olives, cheese, pasta, etc.

Bari and Graziano's use the exact same bread, delivered from the bakery next door to Bari.

Yeah, I try not to eat at any national chains. Local places are always more interesting to me and almost always represent a significant improvement in quality at roughly the same price as the big chains.

I haven't been to Alpine in a couple of years, but I remember it as being good. When I make it to that area, my favorites are typically Riviera Dail (Belmont/Harlem) and Nottoli Brothers (a little further north on Harlem).

so I took a 30 minute hike to get a Bari Italian sub. 12 inches, just the way I like it.

$6.00 is a steal for the size of this thing. bread was kind of stale though, it HAD to be yesterday's bread. I was there early around 11:00.

generous meat cheese, could have used more giardiniera & oil and vinegar given the bread situation.

The sandwich was really huge. I feel like a python that just ate a feral pig.

Good stuff, but I'll place my vote for Graziano's. More orderly, more giardiniera, more oil & vin, no stale bread.

I don't think anyone's favorite should be Subway. Jimmy John's has a sandwich called the gargantuan, which is pretty solid.

Subway is pretty disgusting, but Jimmy John's or Jersey Mike's are not terrible, especially if you don't have one of those higher end places near you.

Great call on Rammys.

If you are in the Lombard area I HIGHLY recommend Frankie's Deli Yorktown. They make the single greatest deli sandwich I've ever had. Turkey and Bacon with Provolone, mayo and awesome giardinerra. I still find a way to hit that place up to and from Chicago. Frankie still works there. Been doing it since 1964.

Apparently I was wrong about that. Period always goes inside the quotes even if the punctuation at the end is not part of the quoted section.

The style book tried to make me buy it. I generally don't ever use italics. If writing for a newspaper or magazine they generally don't use italics. It might make sense in a book though.
