Let's be honest; everyone knows when they've wandered over to the other side.

When I'm walking around in Naperville and things start to look differently, you know you're not in Naper anymore. The area might still be considered Naper, but you know it isn't.

It's called Bolingbrook.

Park City stays forever. good dolphin did his finest work for that town, as short lived as it may have been.

Plus Long Grove is its own little entity. Used to go there when I was a little kid. Imagine just north of Buffalo Grove being quaint and rural once.

Aren't Lincolnwood and Skokie kind of the same place? However, a quick look at Google Maps says that Lincolnwood is off Chicago block-numbering while Skokie is on, so that would be kind of messy.

EDIT: wait, no it's not, merge away

Lincolnwood/Skokie would not work. Skokie/Niles/Des Plaines with some Park Ridge would.

Rosemont/Des Plaines would be a great fit.

How about Oak Park does the Chicago numbering but only on it's bordering streets (North Ave, Austin, Roosevelt, Harlem).

Lake County IL uses State and Madison as a base line as do DuPage County. For example, 32W234 in DuPage is 32 miles west of State St., 38964 in Lake County would be 38 miles north of Madison Street. and is normally used without the direction letter.

The aforementioned pattern also occurs in Waukegan, Illinois, with Washington Street being the baseline between north and south. Nearby municipalities such as Gurnee, Park City, and North Chicago continue with the Waukegan numbering pattern, while rural areas in Lake County, Illinois follow the Chicago grid.

Kind of neat that I suppose Chicago numbering could extend into virtual infinity, but why would you need to know your proximity to the Loop if you live on a farm outside Vernon Hills?

Visited St. Charles a couple times and passed through Geneva and Batavia. Couldn't those three be combined into one large western suburb?

All of the "parks" here in the Western Burbs should be brought under one Park Umbrella. I'm talking about; Melrose Park, Stone Park, Schiller Park, Franklin Park, Elmwood Park

Two of them might as well be, as I hear "Geneva-St. Charles" put together a lot. Batavia is the weak third sister of the Fox River Valley.

The hell is Stone Park?

Do we really need Oak Park, Oak Forest, and Oak Lawn?

Riverdale and Phoenix could easily be merged into one town, RiverPhoenix.

Yeah, Forest Park is treated as the step-child of the Oak Park-River Forest area. Even though a kid in Forest Park could live much closer to OPRF High School than a kid in Oak Park or River Forest, that kid in Forest Park would have to go to Proviso East in (gasp) Maywood.

Proviso East: you'd only go there on one condition.

I don't know why, it's not much better, in my opinion.

On the other side of the annexation coin, I'm intrigued by the idea of northwestern Cook County breaking off.

Lincolnwood, Skokie and Niles: round robin rock paper scissors to see which one takes over the other 2.
