Yeah, I think Lincolnwood, Norridge, and Harwood Heights would make the most sense. I'm sure many of their residents would love to be under the benevolent reign of Rahm and his good-government types.

As long as they aren't overlapping I don't have a problem with too many. Makes voting with your feet easier.

Speaking of which, I recently moved to Minneapolis, and I think I'm falling in love. Maybe I'm just crushing over the girl I work with over the summer. But she's beautiful and giggles when I tell awkward jokes and does that thing where she puts her arm on my shoulder. That's who Minneapolis is. That girl.

Lake in the hills can easily go into either Crystal Lake or Algonquin.

cary and frg = cary grove. Crystal lake is a much larger city and we don't associate with the likes of cary

Is she a native? Minnesotans are awesome.

She is a poorly drawn metaphor for the city.

Oh, I thought you moved to Minneapolis, where you fell in love with a girl who signifies the best part of your relocation. My mistake.

No, it was my mistake. I made it sound like I was having an affair with a Minneapolan. Minneapolite?

"Minneapolitan" would seem to follow, but that sounds like small ice cream.

I'm going to eliminate Rosemont, Maywood and Cicero.

Google tells me you got it. Minneapolitan. That makes linguistic sense but it sounds weird to me.

Or a Metropolite, a resident of Superman's favorite city.

Fair enough. How about CL absorbs Lakewood? If it wasn't for Redtail Golf Club, would anyone know it's there?

Any chance we can also get down to 40 or so states to eliminate overhead?

Some are obvious ... combine the Virginias, Carolinas, Datkotas. Most of the Northwest states can be merged - Oregon/Washington, Wyoming/Montana/Idaho. Give Michigan to Canada.

That'd be easy. All of the "New England" states could be combined into New England. You'd lose about 10 states right there. Think of the savings that the flag industry would see if they could eliminate 10 stars per flag!

I have a liberal definition of "New England" states.

Hey, I'm bumping this thread.

Has anyone else noticed there's a weird unincorporated area on the northwest side around the corner of Cumberland and Bryn Mawr? If you Street View it, there are blue street signs instead of Chicago's green signs or Norridge's white ones, and it's a weird melange of early 1950s housing stock (think west coast-ish ranches rather than the usual NW side bungalows) and new McMansions which stick out like sore thumbs. Take a look:

https://maps.google.com/?ll=41.981905,- ... 61,,0,1.52

What's the deal?

EDIT:
Quote:
Unincorporated Norwood Park Township is an oddly-shaped parcel of land bounded roughly by Seminole Street on the north, Berwyn Avenue on the south, Canfield Avenue on the east and a jagged boundary that largely does not align with any streets on the west. The township retains Chicago street names for east-west streets, but uses Park Ridge street names for its north-south streets.

Most infamously, unincorporated Norwood Park Township was the home of John Wayne Gacy, who lived – and murdered dozens of boys and young men – in a house at 8213 W. Summerdale Ave.

Well then.
