He won't get on-base as much, but his SLG will put him over the top...and he will drive in those runs more consistently...not always relying on the 3-run HR.

while surging at the same time Dunn has slumped. This two month stretch is out of character for Soriano at this point in his career.

2012 WINS ABOVE REPLACEMENT
OVERALLOFFENSEPITCHINGFIELDING
RK PLAYER TEAM WAR
1 Mike Trout LAA 6.3
2 Andrew McCutchen PIT 5.8
3 David Wright NYM 5.5
4 Robinson Cano NYY 5.2

6 Ryan Braun MIL 4.7
Matt Holliday STL 4.7
8 Jordan Zimmermann WSH 4.5
Johnny Cueto CIN 4.5

Barney's range factor is double his previous career high. Pretty crazy. Should probably win the Gold Glove

Dunn's slump is very "in-character." Soriano has had a good season so far...he isn't having a huge tear at the moment, and has been fairly consistent besides his powerless April. In fact, his July numbers were slightly below his May and June.

But regardless, OPS represents the entire season. So Soriano's iffy April and Dunn's current 'slump' are both included, as are the times where they've played better.

I'm talking about Soriano since about 2007. If this type of streak was so typical for Soriano, why has everyone been desperate to get rid of him for the past 3 years.

Because they put far too much emphasis on corner outfield defense.

and because he cant hit good pitching and usually gets fat on bad pitchers.

Taking this in a completely different direction. If Derek Lowe clears waivers I would hope the Cubs sign him so that Coleman or Volstad never pitch again this year. He hasn't been good at all but he is not as bad as those 2.

I wanted him on the cubs pretty much every year from 2005 on....until last year

    Yeah, except the Yankees, Red Sox and Rangers    The guy screwed the Cubs by not approving the Atlanta deal quickly, but it doesnt change that he's a solid starter (despite the lackluster performance last night in his debut with the Rangers) who had 9 good (not great by any means, but good) solid years with the Cubs. I don't care how he fares now with the Rangers, the Cubs got the deal made and people that said there would be no interest from A.L. teams were just stupid to believe it.

What are you laughing at?..no team was interested..the rangers took a flyer on this douche and regret it already...like I said..small sample size, his era and whip will climb and settle right around the norm.(which is not good)..there were 2 teams with interest the braves and mild interest from the dodgers.

I knew this was coming. When teams were ready to trade for him at the deadline, I said "this is why I'm a fan, not a GM."

Paul Sullivan ‏@PWSullivan
Garza was sent back home after his arm felt stiff after bullpen session. Will see doctor, DL stint coming.

Glad to see they will get a couple warm bodies for Baker.

I don't think they regret the move at all. Dempster is now 6-1 with the Rangers and has won his last 5 straight games. It was a smart trade for them. The guy is not a dominant pitcher. But he is a solid starter that keeps his team in almost every game and gives his team a chance to win.

He's been a lot better than Oswalt.

I remember at the start of the year, the Ranger seemed like they had almost too many starters. Then again, their offense covers up a lot of ills...
