Lot of good older handicap horses in here. Hymn Book, Ron The Greek, Rule, Trickmeister....sets up to be a tough race to handicap.

What am I missing with Hunter's Bay? In the fantasy handicapping contest, I boxed Ron the Greek and Hunter's Bay in an exacta.

His best races have been on the all weather track at Woodbine. His dirt record is average - more fitting a horse running in allowance races than Grade 1's. It's also his first Grade 1 race.

Rule hasn't run very much. Only 1 race in 2012. Red flag(s)? Morning odds had it at 5-1.

Also, Fort Larned is in the last position, and also has low odds (7-2). Had a crappy 8 finish in a race Ron the Greek won in June.

Thanks for posting Vince.

I got Ron The Greek, Rule, Flat Out, and Fort Larned. I think the West VA Derby will have a bigger payout.

Fort Larned is going to need to get good position off the break. In the Stephen Foster, he was carried out badly on the first turn and tired to last. I'd give him a pass on that performance but with the speed inside of him, he will need to get into the 2 or 3 path early.

As for Rule, if the trainer was anyone but a top guy, I'd say yes. But Pletcher seems to know what he is doing with this horse and shows considerable rest periods in his history.

In that Stephen Foster, I was all about Alternation and Wise Dan....not sure why I didn't look at Ron too much. Wise Dan almost caught him in the end. It was a good race.

Ron's last 7 races over the past year he's been in either 1st or 2nd.

It's no coincidence that Bill Mott took over training duties 7 races ago either.

So, this thread is, in fact, not about drowning in a bathtub?

Hey, you're smart enough not to be me, so you've got that going for you, which is nice.

No, because my idiot self didn't box.

I bet 6-9-7-8 on a Super Straight..., but of course it came out 9-6-7-8.

Had I hit it, I would be $2500 richer right now.

Ever hear of keys man? I love to do something like this:

69/679/6789/6789 I think that would have been 8 dollars for those bets.

Did you not even touch the exacta? Shame Shame.

Like I said, I'm still new at this so I don't know how to make the best bets just yet. I tend to do only do Tri's and SF's. I don't touch the Exacta's because the wins are usually not that big. I'll probably look at an Ex for the races this weekend. Looking at the Fourstardave and the Hall of Fame stakes.
