I am going to take my son to his first game tomorrow. I have not been to a game since 9/10/2001. I remember the date for obvious reasons.
We used to park at a bowling alley on Broadway a few blocks away. Easy in and easy out, I don't think its there anymore. So, I have two questions.

We don't mind walking. So, any suggestions on parking? I liked the place on Broadway because you basically avoided all the traffic. I can just drive around but hoping some one has a spot. We plan on getting up early so we can see batting practice.

We do not have tickets yet. I've heard tickets are readily available outside the park. Scalpers not doing very good this year, I suspect. I want good seats. Should I expect good seats for sale on the street?

I usually park on Irving Park (street parking free) and walk. It's maybe a mile.

Yeah North of Irving Park and West of Ashland is free non permit parking but IMU is right depending on the time of day and everything might be easiest to just drive to Cumberland and park there and take the Blue Line into the city depending on where you are coming from.

I cannot believe it took this long for the correct response.

What time are you picking me up, Reason?
(bring a weight belt, and a steam-shovel as well)

You can park in the hood during the day without a pass.

I believe there is plenty of parking @ the Cell's lot, then take the Red Line from 35th up to Addison.

Thanks for responses, fellas. Well, most of them, that is.
I didn't know if you could still park during the day without a pass. We used to do that back in the day, but figured you couldn't now.
I just told him as we were watching the game tonight. He is bouncing off the walls now. He is 8 and this is the first year he has been truly interested in watching the games.

Does anyone remember the bowling alley? What's there now?

BigMan, anything on the ticket question? Will I be able to get seats off the street or will I have to go through the box office?

Thanks Doug.
No, Spaulding.
Perhaps, next time Donald.
No, Baby, I waited til I was at retirement age. Gotta look for the discounts.

I just noticed, this is my post 10,000. However, I would have been way past that if BF hadn't pruned some of my best work in the old politics section.

You'll be lucky if someone doesn't report you to DCFS for child abuse.

That's funny, Rodney. I texted that almost word for word today to a Cardinal fan buddy of mine.

I usually park on Ashland just north of Addison in front of Captain Nemo's subs. It's about 6-8 blocks but your scooter should be able to handle that without a recharge.

if you pay to park at a cubs game you are a dope. especially if it's in someone's garage. anywhere in the hood for a day game you are fine. anywhere west of lincoln for a night game you are fine. 15 minute walk, if that
