Anyone have a good spot for steak in the south suburbs?

Toby's was good, but they are now Alexander's & we haven't been there since the change. I've never heard good things about Jenny's, & I hear Krapil's has declined quite a bit.

What about Mr. Benny's in either Matteson or Mokena?

If Bogart's in Homewood is still open, that would be my suggestion.

Jack Gibbons Gardens is old school and a bit pricey, but still one of the best in the south burbs IMO.

They are still open. I have had ups and downs there.

The only steaks I have had in the suburbs have been at Gibson's in Rosemont and Sullivan's Steakhouse in Naperville. I had a good prime rib at White Chocolate Grill in Naperville.

I used to love Krapils. Louis was average at best. Bonfire in Homer Glen on 159th, just east of Bell was pretty good. Harrison's brewery and restaurant on LaGrange near the Target. Their beer is really good too. 8)

Bonfire has very good food...could not remember the name of that place..great lunch specials, 6 - 7 $ fills ya up with quality food...Louis is decent...Allgours is not bad..on 127th west of cicero inside the double tree hotel.

Louies is by far the best steak on the southside. Nothing is even close.

Harrisons in Orland? Come on - not even close nor even a steakhouse. They do have an awesome appetizer platter though.

Krapiles is JUNK - terrible food and even worse service. Their outdoor patio is cool though to have a few cocktails.

Jennys is Aldi steak microwaved - how that place is still open is beyond me.

Gibbons is okay - but not on the same level as Louies.

I've had good luck at the Bogarts in Homewood - never had a bad piece of meat. Good luch specials too.

I forgot about Jenny's...Didn't care for that place either. Not sure what you had at Louie's, but I was not impressed at all.

Krapil's was great in 2003.

Bonfire absolutely sucks
Been there 3-4 times and never had anything i'd consider above average
it's a shame too because there aren't exactly a lot of high class restaurants in Homer Glen

Forget steak and go to Maple Tree Inn in Blue Island.

http://mapletreeinnrestaurant.com/

Great beer and great food (and they will give you a sample of the beer before you order a glass, if you'd like one.)

This older dude in his 30's somehow became friends with one of my buddies when we were like 21. I think it was a weed connection somehow. Nice enough guy and he was a cook at Maple Tree.

Yadda, Yadda, Yadda, my buddy was fixing the air at a homeless shelter and saw him there in line for soup.

It is pretty good. From a beer standpoint I preferred when it was the Lion's Head Ale House (same owner before he relocated the MTI from Chicago).
