CHICAGO – Although the Cubs have not announced a move, Baseball America reported Friday the club has hired Jaron Madison as scouting director.

Madison had the same position with the San Diego Padres.

The current Cubs scouting director is Tim Wilken, who has received praise from both general manager Jed Hoyer and president of baseball operations Theo Epstein. Wilken had key input on the Cubs’ 2012 draft, the first in Chicago under Hoyer and Epstein.

Since Madison was in San Diego, the Padres’ have considerably increased the talent in their system. Hoyer hired Madison in 2009 when he was with the Padres.

It's now been announced Wilken will be a special assistant to Theo with a new contract and expanded role. It sounds like the front office is pretty much set for now. This structure is starting to sound like Office Space.

Anything that makes Wilken's influence smaller is a great move. Just fire the assbag already

If this has been discussed before, I might have missed it. I'll post it here because I'm not starting a new thread, or creating a narrative to argue with people on the Internet. :D

This is from a recent interview with Epstein.

Tell me a little bit about the live-feed video system that's been implemented throughout the organization this year.

"I'd tell ya, but I'd have to kill ya.

Nah, it's just something we started in Boston awhile ago. It gives us a chance to watch the games as they occur. ... I also think it's a way to kind of keep the players accountable. That's a nice byproduct of it.

Sometimes when you're a few stops away from the major leagues, you can feel like nobody's watching. But when you have the "spy cam" out there, there's always a chance someone's watching."
