Seriously now, no Cub bashing, but Barney is the kind of guy you're always going to be trying to replace with someone better. And the Cubs are going to find a guy they believe is better and that guy will probably hit a little more than Barney. But Barney is the kind of guy you find on every championship team. It wouldn't surprise me to see him batting ninth and playing short for a Yankee World Series winner in the post-Jeter era. I just don't think he'll be that guy for the Cubs.

I know Sox fans thought that everything was gonna be perfect after they won, but that's not reality. You still care and when the team fails, you'll still feel it.

If the Cubs are smart ..they address all the other needs first...Barney is arguably the best glove in the N.L. and won't kill with his bat.

He's nowhere close to as good as Getz in handling the bat or on the bases. Those things come in handy for .250 hitters without power.

JORR brings up a great debate - Would you rather have Theriot or Barney?

Personally, I favor Darwin Barney. He's not going to go on base nearly as much as Theriot. But he's better defensively and is a better baserunner.

Sox Fans don't get excited by pennant races. We get excited when we win yet another World Series title.
