Theo is better than Kenny. How many times do I have to tell you that?

The fair criticism of Theo is that he had way more money that everyone but one other team(who wasn't going to win it every year). He still won two of them.

I'm still waiting to know exactly makes me biased any more than the standard bias that any fan has.

You did it again, only a slight variation. Instead of saying Sox fans, you said Sox fan and let him speak for the fanbase.

I didnt do anything. I gave examples of several different responses Ive gotten from different posters on this board to things Ive said about the Sox

You accused me of bias, I assume were talking about this board.

I have no bias. You will not find a negative Sox thought from me just for the sake of being negative. Not my thing.

You gave a simplified version of a response from Rick, JORR, and Rick again.

I had to pull teeth in order to get rpb to admit Kenny was a top ten GM by asking him to name better ones, and then I agreed with him on his ranking. I believe he called Kenny average prior to that. I said he's good. We then agreed he was top ten.

rpb is remembering what he wants.

Oh yeah, Robin was a great hire, and this year is proving it. It's worked out as good as you would want.

You way over rate Kenny and the Sox organization. That is the bias. Kenny is not amazing.

Im sorry, but when you accuse me of bias on the board, Im going to defend it by using examples from the board.

Pretty logical, is it not?

Not really because you illustrated the only example I gave of you being biased.

Apparently I was mistaken

But...

The Rongey statement I referred to was made in 09. And I was agreeing with Dr Ken because (surprise, suprise) you thought Kenny was awesome last year, too (even in his worst year)

I have made my opinion that Kenny is a top 8 GM very well known since then. You never had to pull teeth to get me to say that.

Kenny's lucky that every Sox fan is like BRick and doesn't care if the Sox make the playoffs or he'd have been fired 9 months ago.

Thanks, again, for 2005 Kenny!! 8) :|

This is the thread I believe where you go from "a little above average" to "top 8 GM". It was the same time at least.

If the Sox were average this year I'd be calling for Kenny to be fired. I believe I was actually surprised that he wasn't fired but wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt that Ozzie was the problem. Turns out, there may have been something to that.

Thats great reading for anyone who questions my "Boilermaker Rick" is biased stance.

BTW, did you guys know that Dustin Hermanson meant absolutely nothing to that team?

Why are you defending every move Kenny makes in every thread you are quoting?

Yes. They didnt need him to win because he only pitched 0.1 innings in the playoffs.

Yup. After carrying the bullpen for 3 months of the season.

Those threads also contain Kenny criticism. I think it's telling that you missed those.

The Sox were good enough for me to give Kenny a pass until somewhere around 2015. When you're the GM that put together a patch work team and they win their first WS in almost 100 years, then you deserve a little rope.

I believe I acknowledge that in my initial thread, but it is my opinion that Hermanson's contribution was somewhat minimal because he was not relevant for the playoffs. Maybe rpb can post a link to my thoughts.

You said the Peavy deal was bad but you were still giving him leeway because his WS win

Scathing!

But still, in the middle of his worst season, you were arguing Kenny was the best GM in a city (that won a championship two years earlier)

I think that is telling

I said he had lost all his leeway because of it.

I'm not sure that anyone is better than Kenny even today. Theo is if you count his work in Boston but certainly not with the Cubs. The Hawks have struggled since the title as bad or worse than the Sox did.

They could have won the World Series without Hermanson. They basically did.

Once again, his numbers from 2004 to 2005 were not significantly different including games played. Since you want to bring it up though, is it really a gamble to think that a player who was injured might have been undervalued because of it?

Good for him. That still doesn't change the fact that he was not a gamble taken before the 2005 season.

Not AJ or Podsednik who had both had better seasons in either 2003 or 2004.

Not all of them paid off. If you are going to include Contreras as a gamble that paid off then Shingo was one that didn't. Hermanson was one that didn't.

For real? That is very Elmhurstian.

Paul Konerko was hitting under .200 until about mid May that year with few HRs and few RBIs. I wonder if spany thought he should have been sent back to Charlotte then.

The Hawks have made the playoffs and been decent every year since the Cup right?

Why do my thoughts on Theo hurt your feelings so much?

I'm just a dumbass Sox homer and should be ignored. Just accept that.

Stupid. Obviously, stupidly wrong. Hermanson was one of the most vital parts of that team until he got hurt. He racked up 30some saves about as quick as one possibly could after Shingo lost the closers role.

Roger, making the playoffs in Hockey is no big feat. 1/2 the league makes it. If half the AL made the playoffs, the Sox would have in 2006, 2009, and 2010. Also, you're biased. Not near as much as myself or some other people around here, but you're biased.
