While he will toss at least 1 no hitter down the stretch it still has to suck that a big arm like Danks is going under the knife....especially the shoulder.

Yeah...over a month ago I had predicted in this post that Sale would suffer a dead arm and either have to be shut down (like now) or be ineffective (his last start for example) due to the innings he has logged, which are so far beyond the 71 innings he threw last season. Some guys hate to say I told you so....I dont!

Wow! You predicted that Jake Peavy would not go the entire season with an ERA under 2.

You predicted that the Cubs would stock their farm system full of stallions after today. They got a prospect recovering from Tommy John surgery, and a bunch of lowly rated prospects.

You also said that the Cubs should not trade Soriano, because they don't have enough run producers.

Steve, you are awesome

1)Lets at least be accurate here...I don't remember specifically saying Peavy would not go the entire season with an ERA under 2, but I think I may have said that I don't expect he would remain as effective as he was early and that he would wind up on the DL before the season ends.
2) The Cubs did re-stock their farm system with the trades made in the last 24 hours and whether the deals were good, great or poor, cannot be judged anytime soon. It will be 2-3 years before these deals can truely be judged.
3) What I said about Soriano, was that the Cubs should not trade unless they get a good prospect in return. To give away a guy that has 20 homers in the last 2 months and is on pace for 107-108 RBI is stupid. They have very few run producers, with LaHair driving in just 9 runs in the past 2 months. Besides, even if they put Jackson in center and shift DeJesus back to RF, with nobody else really ready to take over an OF spot, it's not as if Soriano is retarding the progress of a player ready to take over a spot in the outfield.

4) fixed

If his ERA was under 2.00, and you said he wouldn't keep that up, then wouldn't you be saying that his ERA wouldn't remain under 2.00?

2) The Cubs did re-stock their farm system with the trades made in the last 24 hours and whether the deals were good, great or poor, cannot be judged anytime soon. It will be 2-3 years before these deals can truely be judged.

You can't possibly be thrilled with what they got in return.

Do you even know how to do simple math? Every time you make your predictions based on current pace, you get the numbers wrong. He has 61 RBI through 101 games. Multiply that pace by 162 games, and you get 97.8 RBI. Captain Obvious can't even get the obvious correct. If there was ever a player where extrapolating current pace to predict future numbers was a terrible idea, it's the streaky Soriano. This was his hot spell. We have all seen this story before. There is going to be a very dark stretch at some point. I think it is extremely doubtful that he gets to 100.

Let's use some more Steve-O logic, and take this further. They needed to trade veterans for young players, in order to get better in the future. But, they shouldn't get rid of an overpaid, aging veteran because they need run producers for a season that doesn't matter, because it's not like he's taking a spot that a young player could fill. Even though they could move The Jesus to left, and let one of the jewels of their system Brett Jackson take over center field.

That ladies and gentlemen, is Steve-O logic.

4) fixed

fixed indeed.

Yet another post full of FAIL.

Boilermaker Rick asked what the Sox record is within the division. You are the go to guy when it comes to crunching numbers, so I figured I would leave this one up to you.

How many shows will you be calling tomorrow to say that trading veterans for prospects is a step in the right direction?

So you think the Sox are going to win their division? Detroit will add to their club before the trade deadline (starting pitcher), Peavy will break down and Sale will either become less effective (due to the innings pitched and the dead arm he will suffer) or be shut down to protect him. The Tigers will win the division

If you werent worried about the best team (on paper) in your division then you were either naive, full meatball or clairvoyant.

How is it wrong, meatballish, or naive to predict that a team will under perform? Its not like I said the Sox were going to win 110 games. I have said all along that I thought the Tigers would underachieve and not win the division. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that whatsoever.

Maybe the only issue with that is that I have been right all along and the rest of you are little irked by that because I'm often labeled as the King Sox Meatball around here.

Maybe I'm hung up about the word 'worried'. To me that implies you never considered the Tigers a threat. Since they were the division favorites, it seems odd you would not think they could be a threat to win the division.

You could think they might underachieve, but to think that they could not win the division seems like you got very lucky in being a Sox homer or you are one of this generations premier baseball minds.

I had a feeling the Tigers would not be very good. I never wavered from that position. As strongly as I felt about the Tigers being just so-so, I was never worried about them. I didn't mean to dismiss them and never, ever thought the Sox would coast to a division title, but I just thought the Tigers would underachieve and therefore I was worried way more about the Sox blowing it than I ever was the Tigers going on a run and passing the Sox.

Keep in mind, lots of baseball experts were ready just to hand the Tigers the AL Central before pitch 1 was even thrown. Wouldn't they be just as big of a meatball as I apparently was?

I mean, its not like I said something stupid like Brett Jackson is going to be better than Mike Trout!

Not the case....just accurate and insightful. Lets see....Sale's late start -gave up 4 runs in just 4 innings in a loss. Tonight 4 runs in 6 innings in probably another loss. The predictions are just very accurate. The Sox should have shut him down. He might get through this season. But because of the wear, he will likely break down early next season. I'll look back on this prediction and say I told you so about this too.

Your predictions aren't even close to "very accurate". In fact I wouldn't really give you "kinda accurate" or even "somewhat accurate" because the word accurate requires accuracy, which your predictions lack.
