Wow, He really outdid himself on this one.
- Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday told a diverse crowd here, including many African-Americans, that presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney would "put you all back in chains" by unshackling Wall Street.

Biden told more than 800 ticketed supporters that Romney wants to repeal the financial regulations enacted after the Wall Street crash of 2008. "He's going to let the big banks once again write their own rules - unchain Wall Street!" Biden said. Then he added, "They're going to put you all back in chains" with their economic and regulatory policies.

Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said Biden's comments "are not acceptable in our political discourse and demonstrate yet again that the Obama campaign will say and do anything to win this election. President Obama should tell the American people whether he agrees with Joe Biden's comments."

Stephanie Cutter, deputy campaign manager of the Obama campaign, called Saul's statement "faux outrage. She said on MSNBC that Biden was "using a metaphor to talk about what's going to happen" if Romney is elected and financial reform is repealed. and "we have no problem with those comments" in their full context.

The Obama campaign later put out a statement that said Biden's comment was a variation on comments Republicans have made about unshackling the private sector, and his own frequent references to the need to unshackle the middle class. "Today's comments were a derivative of those remarks, describing the devastating impact letting Wall Street write its own rules again would have on middle class families," the campaign said.

Biden is on a southern swing to North Carolina and Virginia this week. "With you we can win North Carolina," he said at the end of his speech, mistakenly referring to the bordering battleground state that he visited on Monday.

In the past month polls of Virginia have ranged from a tie to Obama ahead by 4 percentage points, within the poll's margin of error. North Carolina is also a toss-up.

Or people who are just sensitive (not to mention, sensible) about how stupid that sounded. It would be a reach if people thought that comment would also include President Obama in chains.

Second time this year Biden's mouth has caused Obama issues. First was forcing the President's hand on the gay marriage issue. Obama is trying to stay on his message and his focus, and yet Biden is running around creating new fronts for the President to deal with.

I will say this; I doubt Obama will drop him from the ticket. To do so will be cannon fodder for the Republicans.

They must be concerned about their internal turnout numbers for November (from all accounts, there is expected to be a significant drop) that they are seeing so Biden drops a statement like that, not because he believes Republicans feel that way, but in the hope that this will cause a stir and get African American voters more enthusiastic about voting in the upcoming election.

Dude, I been posting stuff that is critical of both sides. I was shocked when I heard and read this one. Are you saying that what he said was okay?

And you are about as non-partisan as Americans For Prosperity.

Once again you seem not to read what I post.
I do not listen to Rush. I saw 30 secondes before and 30 seconds after it. Come on , if it was a Republican who said some thing liek this you would be all over it. Be honest at least to yourself.

What he said was disingenuous. I find it insulting that he is trying to portray the administration as a Wall Street clean unscrew fighting on Behalf of us citizens.

Him saying that Romney wants to "unchain" Wall Street means that the administration would have had to actually chain Wall Street at some point.....which hasn't happened and probably won't happen no matter who is in the big boy chair.

Exactly. One day folks are going to wake up and realize that when they say, "But he's for us, the little guy" they really are saying "We just can't find any shit on this guy about NOT being for us!"

Checked it out. Sounded bad. I still don't have a problem with the content.

I hate partisan politics and i actually find Joe Biden, as far as personality goes, a fresh breathe of air. However, I kind of side on chas with this one which rarely happens. If you actually saw the video and the way he said it, it definitely had a certain tone to it and you could even hear a few laughing as if they thought thats what he meant. I don't actually think in the grand scheme of things its that big of a deal, but let me say this about. Same scenario, said the same way, Paul Ryan says it instead of Joe Biden. - Discuss.

In layman's terms that's giving someone the benefit of the doubt. By definition that's not something which should be attributed equally. Perhaps at times it can be unfairly applied for political gain, but realistically I don't see how this is a big deal for Biden. If he does it again then...

Biden sounds far more natural saying "y'all" than Obama does.

Because Paul Ryan lacks any foreign policy experience and has never won a statewide election the democrats will eventually question if he is ready to be president. Because they know it's coming the republicans are trying to do the same to Joe Biden and use his gaffes as proof.

I'm not sure I understand the strategy of publicly suggesting that Obama replace Biden with the most popular politician in the country. Yes, the argument could be made that making a change is a desperate move this late in the game, but the move itself still puts in a popular politician. Granted, this won't happen and is just speculation, but interesting, nonetheless.

Nothing would motivate the republican base more than voting against President Obama and getting the opportunity to attack a Clinton again. Right now even with the opportunity to vote against President Obama the base isn't as excited because Romney is a terrible candidate. They dislike him almost as much as the hate President Obama. I've met very few people that like Romney.

Biden’s slip came in a speech to the Legal Services Corporation, which provides lawyers to Americans who could not afford them otherwise. In his remarks, the vice president described the experience of his son, Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, who was deployed for one year in Iraq.

“People would come to him and talk about what was happening to them at home in terms of foreclosures, in terms of bad loans that were being — I mean, these Shylocks who took advantage of these women and men while overseas,” Biden said.
