The quality. The music industry had no problem with music sharing- even going so far as to sell blank tapes- until the quality of a duplicate was indistinguishable from the original.

And you might have shared or copied that blank cassette recording with 3-4 friends. That's what I did as a kid. We'd find the guy who had the original, and we'd all make copies. But with Napster millions of people could have a copy of that recording. No wonder the music industry freaked out.
