Unless that particular Pepes imports its food from you know, an actual mexican restaurant, Im going to feel safe saying its probably like all the other Pepes in and around our fine town and that it sucks equally as bad.

Panthro, that place is average, sorry. I worked right down the street from there and have had it numerous times

Pepe's is okay if you don't look at it as a Mexican restaurant. Just like McDonald's is okay if you don't look at it as a burger joint. They just are what they are. Now, get me a big plate of garnachas*!







*Garnachas are about the closest thing I can find to the kamoosh they served at La Choza on Paulina. I'm sure Tall Midget will know the place and the dish. Maybe C Howitt too. I've never seen kamoosh served anywhere else. That's certainly not a Mexican spelling I used, but I have no idea how to spell it. I'm sure it's not a Spanish word. I've never heard it and I've been pretty close to fluent in Spanish on two different occasions.

I have to agree with the Panth on this...the Pepe's was always top notch and comparable to my favorite Mexican joint of all time...Arranda's at the six corners of Ashland, Division, and Milwaukee. It's long gone, but far above the three La Pasadita's.

This is very eerie, Doug! Believe it or not, I once played in a band that had a song called "Incident At Aranda's" which was about several drunken encounters there on a single night. Aranda's was the first place I ever saw "Mexican Gyros".
