Count Von Count is one of Jim Henson's Muppets from "Sesame Street". Hard to believe that kids show is still on the air to this day on PBS. Jim Henson passed away many years ago, but his Muppet characters still make that show work.

Ah, the puppeteer for the Count has cashed it in, at 78.

As far as the muppets being on Sesame Street, seems Henson sold them the rights. You have to admit, getting new characters would be costly and problematic at this juncture.
