Cutler hit an easy touchdown to Marshall early on, but since then the team has absolutely melted down.

- Webb got juked out of his pants by Umenyiora, in one of the more memorable epic failures caught on tape over the years.
- Cutler looked like he'd rather be anywhere else. He wass tired, off-target, and unhappy about the constant pressure.
- Run blocking was non-existent.
- Harvey Unga pissed the bed and allowed a punt block. Farewell, Harvey.
- Quigley's looked really good, actually. Very good game from the rookie punter.
- Peanut Tillman's lost. The Giants wideouts were toasting him left and right.
- Weems ran into his own blocker and coughed it up. Not his best moment.
- Late hit penalty on Steltz. He was up and down tonight.
- Chilo Rachel got schooled once or twice, piss-poor showing from him.
- Chris Williams allowed an outside move to put the heat on Cutler, who's already had a horrible day.

I think we're gonna burn the film on this one.

Also as I've been watching the second half, I'm pretty sure Jason Campbell's gonna be a problem. Campbell's first drive was a textbook example of showcasing his flaws. He had an inside route to Jeffery that should've been a first down, but he put the ball high and behind Jeffery, forcing him to attempt and awkward catch. Previously Campbell rolled out on a bootleg that should've gone to Armando Allen, but Campbell held onto the ball too long and over threw what should've been a routine pass.

He's done this throughout the preseason, and it's intensely discouraging.

He can't be worse than Caleb Hanie, but considering his pedigree and hype, I expected far better from this guy.

Thanks Dewskie.

Can't wait for Zaidman to defend the O-Line on Monday.

No shit, Peeps. I'm sure he'll bring up the obligatory "the bears were 7-3 with this o-line before Cutler's injury" regurgitation.

Is there a class you can take to tell whether your QB is tired?

This is a chicken or the egg thing for me. Which comes first - lack of overall communication that leads to missed blocks and receivers not running correct routes, breaking off routes, dropping balls - or Cutler starting to bitch and essentially just throwing his hands up in frustration?

I have no idea how an NFL team can have such a lack of communication in the passing game. Forget the line because that it it's own thing. Now you have veteran wide receivers who also appear to be suffering from this after coming here. It's a like a disease. Hows about we figure that out instead of telling Cutler to adapt to this inherent stupidity every fucking year? You do not see this shit on other teams, to this extent.

Cutler is focusing on Marshall too much. I can't blame him since he's never had a receiver here before. But he needs to scan the field more.

I thought it was strange that the Bears put only one guy out there on defense in the first half. Peppers is good and all, but still....

This game was an abomination. The Bears were confused and phlegmatic on offense and completely inept on defense.

Let's pray that this performance wasn't a sign of things to come, but it probably will be in at least one area--left tackle. Neither J'Marcus Webb nor Chris Williams is a legitimate starter at that spot. They are both prone to making key errors that will cost the team games--and may get Cutler killed.

I don't think it was. It looked as if the team was in New York to do something fun, but then they were forced to play a football game that nobody wanted to play. The energy was such shit from the opening kickoff onward, and by the time the Weems fumble happened, you could tell the coaches were thinking "we just need to get the hell out of this stadium."

It was kind of pathetic how the Bears kept their 1's in starting the second half so they could beat up on the Giants backups just so they could say they had one decent drive, but I understood the reasoning.

And you're right about left tackle - there's no hope for that position this year, same for left guard. What's retarded is that C. Williams has proved he can be a serviceable left guard, and based on how awful Spencer/Rachal have been, he may ultimately end up becoming a starter there again. It could get so bad that they swing Carimi over to LT and pop Louis over to RT/take a chance on James Brown (if he makes the team). There's no telling how bad it'll get, but just like last year when it was burned into the team brass just how important a backup QB is, the Bears will have that same experience when it comes to having a well-stocked offensive line.

That being said, I'm holding out hope beyond hope (it won't happen) that the Bears deal for a guard or tackle before the preseason concludes. Just pipe dreams.

There are at least 6 of the 9 offensive linemen on the roster that not only wouldn't start for anyone in the NFL, they probably wouldn't make the team. Starting immediately after next season, that needs to change, and I think Emery will make it happen.

Year 4 of the franchise QB experiment and they still have no idea who the left tackle is. Meanwhile, they've drafted 19 safeties in the same time frame. Amazing.

Maybe the answer is to draft the best available lefty QB.

How many more different configurations do we need before we start looking more heavily at the one constant?

IB and BR made their minds up years ago that Cutler is a cancer at QB and will forever hate him. If Cutler broke passing records and won 3 consecutive rings, they'd still think it was in spite of Cutler.

It's not even worth arguing it with them, so don't bother.

The offensive line sucks doesn't seem to be going away. Don't worry about the fact that Forte finds a way to operate efficiently with it and become one of the most productive in the league.

I know people think I just hate Jay Cutler because he's not Kyle Orton, which you'd think by now would be a pretty stupid thing to think. Admittedly, I was more critical of Cutler from the start but that's because he needed to make massive improvements. You don't win in the NFL because you make 2 or 3 highlight throws in a game.

Cutler is the best average QB in the league, and sadly, he's in the "prime" that people were so excited about seeing being passed by younger QB's(Stafford, Newton, and possibly Luck). Now, this would be alright if he was paid as an average QB but he's not. He was paid as a top QB, and is looking at a contract where he will ask to be paid as a top QB.

He still does the exact same things that caused Denver to give up on him. He makes a throw that you just can't believe he was able to do. He'll even look awesome for a whole drive.

One thing is clear. Brandon Marshall does make Cutler better because he's good enough to still make catches on many of his mistakes. It may not be that Cutler was hamstrung by a lack of WR's, but that Cutler needs WR's who can bail him out. That's troubling for a guy the whole franchise is built around.

Excuses? 7 and 3 last season before he got hurt with nothing on the offensive side of the ball that any other team would take besides him and Forte. Maybe Hester but for his kick returning more than his wide receiving.

How about we wait until we see what happens in the regular season?

It's nice hearing from you now because when the Bears are actually scoring points and winning in the regular season we know Irish Boy and Boilermaker will disappear.

Cutler could throw 10 touchdowns, play defense and have 10 sacks. kick 2 fieldgoals, run back a kickoff for a touchdown, run back a punt for a touchdown, save orphans from a burning building before the game, cure cancer after the game, solve the world's problems and get to the center of a tootsie roll pop and BR and IB would still hate him and try and give credit to Orton.

How about we wait more than 2 preseason games before making a judgement? One thing I know for sure is if they had looked great you wouldn't be saying a thing.

Heck it's not really even 2 games. More like 1 game with the combined time they were actually on the field.

Meatball alert. Meatball alert.

IB and me have been closer to what Cutler actually has been than just about anyone else on here. I guess because I don't immediately go for any excuse in the book I'm just a hater.

What happened to all the talk of the "best offense the Bears have had in the last 25 years"?

Glad to see you've taken the cubbiegirlshamu side of this one, method of argument at all.

I don't think he's a cancer. I think he's a slightly-better-than-league-average QB with questionable accuracy and poor decision-making skills.

Get back to me when he sets passing records and wins three straight rings, champ.

Oh my God I stated facts.

Okay name someone else on the offense last year any other team would want!

SInce you're not a Bears fan since you've made it clear you root against the QB which team do you root for?

How about waiting for more than 2 preseason games before making a judgement on the new offense. I know that's being logical.
