I've heard several hosts on the score discuss Armstrong. It's almost as if they live in fantasyland. Doping is part of the sport. Just like it's part of track and field. Just like it's part of horse racing. It's not as if Armstrong or Bolt are taking away what rightfully belongs to someone else who competed clean. You aren't competing clean. You aren't competing clean in football either. For some reason that doesn't disturb anyone. They only get mad at baseball and Lance Armstrong.

I read an article on high-tech "training" in Wired. They had Lolo Jones attached to more machines than a patient in a coma. Everything is measured and the drugs are administered in precise dosages in order to meet the letter of the law rather than the spirit of the law. Sometimes someone makes a mistake and test positive.

Trainers pull blood on high class horses after every race, maybe every day. I've seen a guy train a pacer in 1:50 with a tube down his throat to check his breathing. Science is part of sports. Do you consider a pair of glasses to be performance enhancing?

Boers is off all week, and I think part of next week, too. Usually, that means Rozner, Laurence Holmes or the Trib's Steve Rosenbloom, also one half of The SCORE's Saturday morning wakeup call with Mark Grote, would sub alongside Bernstein.

I think there's a good chance Bernsy flies solo, sort of speak, Thursday afternoon due to a White Sox/Orioles' matinee at Camden Yards. Mac & Spiegs are done at 11A to accommodate Chris Rongey's "Horseshoe Casino Pregame", followed by an 11:30A first pitch from Baltimore Thursday.

One thing is for sure, CH. Bernsy and whoever's riding sidecar with him this week are done at 5:30P Monday-Wednesday for Sox/Orioles & Friday for Game 1 of the big Sox/Tigers' series in Detroit.
