CALLER GENE: How do you like working with Hawk?

STONE: I love my job, I love coming to the park everyday and broadcasting baseball.....(and 10 more minutes of garble, with the closest he came to the topic was calling Hawk a different kind of announcer.)

A great non-answer answer. Does Hawk have the juice to nix a Stoney contract extension?

NOPE!

Jerry and Stoney very tight. Jerry and Hawk more like drinking buddies.

Neither going anywhere....plus I think both know they are tight with Jerry and could never ask him to fire the other one.

I heard that too. He did everything he could to not answer that question. Guess Hawk isnt on Stoney's "guys he's going to have over for Shabbat dinner " list.

The broadcast was remarkably better for the week Paciorek was in the booth.

Stone is very Bernstein-ish. Hawk doesn't like people like that.

Hawk is very meatball-ish. Stone doesn't like people like that.

I read it in high school, I found an old hard cover copy in the library. It was pretty good. It was basically his playing days and described how he was a pool shark, a gambler, and a golfer. Baseball was kind of in the background. I think it went up to the point where he retired for a bit, but before the time he came back. It was pretty entertaining though what sports fan wouldn't enjoy a book about poker games, golfing, fighting, and baseball.

Was that in the fiction section with the rest of Hawk's madeup stories?

I don't think Hawk makes anything up. I just think he exaggerates how they happened immensely. Or it was kind of a one time or just an every so often type occurrence, but Hawk will act like it happened every other game with him.

Im sorta joking

Although the story he told about the 69 cubs a couple weeks ago was way off. If 90% of the details of a story are wrong, how true is it?

There's a difference between making things up and remembering them incorrectly.
