The Daily Herald isn't going anywhere. They have added a ton of costs to their Sports section this year with Kasper, Spiegs, North, and Ranger writing columns. They will be one of the last guys standing as a private business with a cult local following.

BR is right about Rozner. It would get old fast. The last time I heard him on, he just kept repeating the same tired stuff during the entire show. His act gets old real quick, and you'd soon learn he is a one trick pony on any given issue. If he had to talk about the Bears for an entire week, it would become obvious he has very shallow thoughts. He would make some joke about Lovie staring up at the sky, and if the Bears won, they got lucky. He would take away anything good the Bears did as the other team being bad.

You might be right, even though the Tribune Company has had financial issues of their own. You can thank Sam Zell for that.

Had some financial issues? Stick to sports. They have been stuck in bankruptcy for several years. They own several crappy newspapers.

The DH has a very limited distribution and is protected from a lot of competition as THE suburban newspaper. They are a private company which a much lower overhead.

That's why Laurence Holmes, like him or loathe him, is more likely to be named as successor to Uncle Terry than Barry Rozner is. Laurence is more likely to imitate Boers and make odd noises than Rozner ever will.

I'll admit, I've never read anything written by Rozner. I never get the Herald or check their website. I just know him from the Score.

Rozner has thoughts. But they revolve around a few hot button things. They get old fast, and he becomes preachy. The best thing about Barry is that he has a lot of inside contacts at the Cubs and Blackhawks in addition to some key athlete relationships.

I see why the board tends to like him as a fill-in. I have probably been overexposed and have "grown apart" from him and his opinions.

I think Bernstein would have the final say on this decision. Bernstein is not a sentimental person. If he likes Rozner and thinks it would make for a better show, he wouldn't feel the least bit bad in dissapointing Larry.

Denis, let's not forget the Tribune Company owns WGN, both CW9 & the WGN America Superstation, along with 720 WGN Radio, in addition to quite a few other TV stations & other newspapers across the country. They still own a small share of the Chicago National League Ballclub, even though the Ricketts Family owns the bulk of that team, too.

Every now and agian. Not as much as I could, I suppose...

Guys, I thought you had to pay a fee to access some of the articles on not only the Daily Herald's Web site, but also their sister paper the Sun-Times, too.

You can bypass the Herald paywall if you hit the escape key really quick, after it loads the content but before it can load the paywall.

Funny as hell. Can tell a good story. Seems to get along with everyone on the show. And even though I may be the biggest Goff and Drinky fan in the world, they aren't on Barry's level when it comes to working with Dan.

This needs to happen....whenever Boers decides to hang it up.

+1000

I look forward to Rozner being on w/ Bernsie, due almost solely to the fact that he calls Bernsie out. I am a fan of Bernstein's analytical nature, but when it goes too far overboard, Rozner has no qualms with giving some perspective. I've heard many say his Daily Herald work sucks, but I don't read it and I don't really care in the context of radio.

Why do you think Boers refuses to work with Rosie and Rozner? Because that old cracker is smart enough to realize that those two are after his job. He knows it.

That's why he only allows Goff and Larry. One, he doesn't see them as a threat. Two, they kiss his ring.

That's a strike against him as far as getting a full-time job goes, as those are the two Chicago teams the Score attempts to marginalize.

Not a chance. I know that Mitch Rosen was once Loho's agent & all, but I just cant believe that he will give Holmes another chance at his own show. Berns & Loho would be even worse that B&B.

I didn't hear it today, but I have noticed drinky getting pissy with Rosie and Rozner when they host with Bernstein. He likes to chest up to them. It's him showing displeasure for interlopers invading the station. He feels it's his territory, that he should be getting the air time and he wants to let them know. It's a little funny and a lot sad. His crying and bitching gets ignored by everybody at the station.

I don't think it's a huge leap to think that Drinky and Goff wouldn't like these outsiders coming in. Goff gets prime time sub duties every now and then. Drinky never gets them. Maybe that's why he's more pissy than Goff when these guys work on the afternoon show. To me it's pretty obvious that he's trying to show them that he's mad and doesn't like them being on the afternoon show. Not that Rosie or Rozner care.

Rosey is great. One of the biggest mistakes the Score made was letting J Hood go. I would really like to see him return to WSCR someday.

Hood is the shit...Mitch is not an intelligent man..he chose Larry over Hood...that is like choosing glee over breaking bad.

That day might as well be now.

Would also go with Rosenbloom as a choice.

I like Dan when he's with those two guys.

Rosie would be a good partner for him too. Either one. Rosie is less of a dick with Bernstein than he is on his weekend show with Grote. Rosie respects Bernstein. Rosie thinks Grote is a dumb ass so he carries that show and makes Grote his bitch. Plus he does that stupid "Pot head" shtick on that show. He wouldn't do that if he were Bernstein's partner.

Rozner and Bernsie not agreeing on a topic leads to a discussion, not a constant repeat of the same sentence (Boers) followed by raising of voices (Bernsie.) Today's discussion on the White Sox punishing/firing Hawk lead to an actual discussion between the two hosts, versus the ever-so-mentioned "My peeps" from Boers.

As much as I like Terry, that act has gotten stale.
