How the hell do you ever dig out of this hole? I tried reasonably hard this year to make educated picks, but when you start so far down, it seems damn near impossible to move up.

I started at the bottom.

Here are the standing from Week 6. viewtopic.php?f=124&t=68662
spanky and Terry's Peeps were in the back of the field, made their way to the top 12.

Moving up requires getting Top 5's and Top 10's weekly.

I have to give myself credit. I was consistently below average all year.

If you picked on average the 14th place driver every week, so far you'd have 750 points. Enough to be in the Top 12. Pick another Top 14 and that gets total to at least 780 points. That is how to move up the standings, get about 30 points a week. It is tough to be picking from the back of the B-tier to get a driver.

Nobody picked Denny Hamlin and he won last week. Paul Menard was available to everybody this week and finished 8th. Sam Hornish Jr., Jeff Burton, Kurt Busch, and Regan Smith all scored 30 points this week. Look back through the weekly results, their are bottom half of the standings that get Top 5 or 10 drivers.

well, anything is possible, but 8 of the top 10 from week six are still in the top ten!

That's fine though. Maybe in 3-4 more years I can work my way up to contention.

One way is to make a pick as soon as the thread gets put up. If you are far down the list, you'll hopefully have someone "steal" him from you... you want your first guy stolen so you can lock in with a second.
You can also partner up with someone who is ahead of you (or behind) so that the person in the lead will tell the person behind who they want and it can help them catch up.
