do you really care? The guy got 26 outs...and had his chance for 27 if he didnt throw it into the 15th row instead of to the 1st baseman. They were winning 8 zip...the ballsy move there is to bring in a reliever....the easy move is to let the starter stay in. Dusty Baker would've left him in...and then when / if he had arm problems in the future....it's dusty's fault. Who cares? Not me.

i would not have even let garza come out for the 9th...he should have been gone in the 8th..119 pitches this early in the year in a game that is 8-0? no need for it..probably matters not and garza is on another team before seasons end.

Its amazing how big of pussies pitchers have become. Guys used to throw 170 pitches easy and work in a four man rotation.

Bottom line: Garza was given the chance to finish it. He decided to throw the ball into the stands. So he met the bench.

i think the team just errors on the side of caution..todays pitchers make millions and the players back in the day made chump change...not to mention they have roles for setup and closers and middle relief now ..why not use them?

I think a lot of the stupid Cubs fans will be filtered out over the next 3-4 years and will have to dust off their Yankees/Red Sox/Dodgers caps. They gave allllll the lip service to Theo and co. without actually realizing what they were signing up for.

Undoing a decade of bad signings and "winning now" mismanagement takes awhile. Like years.

Which is far more than any of these puds will wait, and thus Wrigley seats will be quite cheap for the 2012, 2013, and 2014 campaigns while this franchise retools.

edit: that being said, I'm a Cubs fan, and am probably stupid because of it. I am quite loyal, however, and if this team being strong from the top down for routine playoff contention means 2-3 seasons of baseball diarrhea, I will gladly endure it.
