I know the question is a joke, but - in SHARK-like fashion - it does allow me to point out that there was a pilot episode of Gilligan's Island which had a different Professor, Ginger and Mary Ann. Anyone else ever see it? Same plot as the first regular episode.

The most useless character was the Professor. Guy's supposed to be a genius, makes a radio out of a coconut, yet can't get them off the fucking island.

Unless... He was banging both Maryann & Ginger... then keeping them on the island was brilliant.

My girlfriend speaks a bunch of different languages. She is fascinated by language and linguistics. I had never really given much thought to the accents used by the Howells until she started telling me about something called the Mid-Atlantic accent that doesn't really exist naturally. It was a manner of speaking specifically developed to show status. It has come to be used often in television programs or movies to illustrate a character of a higher class than others, i.e., Maragaret Dumont, Frasier and Niles Crane, the Howells.

Why did the millionaires go on a regular 3 hour cruise. Why not rent a private yacht and sail thru the bahamas without dealing with the prof and the two whores...

Yes, it was also adopted by certain swells in Boston.
