TAMPA, Fla. -- During these past four days at the RNC convention, janitors have worked around the clock picking up after delegates, conservative stars like Ann Coulter and Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.), and the thousands of reporters in cavernous filing rooms. And many are doing so making less than minimum wage.

Carolyn Walker said she has been cleaning the convention center for 13 years. She had been making $8 per hour until a few years ago, when the cleaning contract went to another company, Cleanevent USA. The new company meant a new, downsized paycheck. She's now making minimum wage -- $7.67 per hour. But that wasn't the only hit to her wallet.

Walker said the company charges her $6 per week for uniforms. "It stinks to tell you the truth," she said. "We work very hard." It effectively means she's making less than Florida's minimum wage.

You are really proposing that the POTUS should show up every time someone's house floods? You realize this happens hundreds of times every day, all across the country, correct?

No, I'm saying that the POTUS should have gone to a hurricane damaged area. People faulted Bush for not going 7 years ago. Why should Obama not have gone? Because it was a smaller area affected?

I'm pretty sure Bush went to New Orleans/Louisiana after Katrina hit. As I remember....it was that he didn't go right away from wherever he was at and instead chose to go back to D.C. first.

I don't think Obama ever visited tennessee a couple years ago when that place was completely flooded. I think 33% of the state was under water. 20 some people dead. I don't even think they got federal aid.

Exactly. I'll give credit where credit is due; FEMA/Obama Administration did send aid rapidly after Tennessee got rocked. Same with his response via FBI and other agencies to help in both Colorado shootings (Rep. Gifford and of course the Dark Knight Rises shooting this summer.)
