It's been the legendary CBS News magazine that set the standard for long-form journalism way back in 1968 and to this day remains one of TV's most popular shows overall. Now, CBS News & one of the network's many owned cable outlets have teamed up for a brand new monthly sports version of the long-running newsmagazine.
It's simply called "60 Minutes of Sports", and it'll premiere this November on CBS/Viacom-owned Showtime. The new show will feature 2 new original segments, an update on a classic "60 Minutes" sports-related story from the CBS News vault, along with an in-studio, timely newsmaker. The new show will be hosted by correspondents of both the long-running newsmagazine, which will start its 45th season on CBS September 30th, as well as CBS Sports. The announcement was made today in New York by CBS News Chairman & "60 Minutes" executive producer Jeff Fager & Stephen Espinoza, Executive V.P. & General Manager of Showtime Sports.
