Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I have a few thousand songs. I bought about 100 of them through itunes and the rest have been acquired by alternative means. My old computer's hard drive is old as hell and corrupted and that is where the files are located.....aside from the ipod itself. I've done this before where I would unhide the files off the ipod itself and transfer the coded files but it doesn't seem to work on Windows 7 which is what I have now.

Since Apple seems to have closed the loophole for DIY transfers does anyone know how to do this or what software to use to do it. They are all 20-25 dollars but I have no idea what is good and what is crap.

Thats what I had done before but I can't unhide the files using windows 7 for some reason. There is no longer an option to do so. Some of the comments at the bottom might be useful for research though. Thanks for the link.

Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Folder Options.

Click the View tab.

Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK.
