I was going to go there, but we have institutions and big money interests that would quash this shit right away. I mean, absent any sort of police presence, you think Chicago has the potential for massive riots?

Seattle several years ago for the G20. Whole city went up. LA after the King verdict. Hell, after most Major sports teams win a championship.

Why the fuck would you be "sorely tempted to do so?" Do you think he doesn't have the right to his free speech? And they aren't really investigating a parole violation. He certainly hasn't violated his parole, at least in spirit. This is flat out pandering to savagery.

Because to me, if you do the crime, you should do the time. Even with Freedom of Speech, there are concaquences to what is said. This a-hole decided to piss off Muslims (including the extremists) all the while he knew his ass was safe here in the States. This film he made, and the outcry afterwards? It's the ultimate expression of internet muscles. Say something that you would never dare say to a person face to face.

Hide behind "Freedom of Speech" all the while someone is pissed off beyond the pail. (Freedom of Speech which, for the uninformed, isn't say whatever the fuck you want with no recourse. If that was the case, there would be no such thing as libel or slander laws. It was meant to allow us to speak out against our government without fear of reprisals of said government.) He had to know how upset this would make Muslims. (Hell, this isn't the first go-around with the Prophet Muhammad being portrayed in a film/tv show only to piss off Muslims. Anyone remember the Religious Super friends South Park had years ago, and the times they tried to put Muhammad back into the cartoon? Eventually they were threatened enough to stop because of what happened to Theo Van Gogh.)

He HAD to know this wouldn't go over well.

This to me is one of those cases of even though you have the right to say it, maybe its better left unsaid. Why piss off a ton of people with what you THINK is "the truth" even though you have little to know evidence to PROVE your truth?

I said I would be tempted to turn his ass over to them; but there's already been enough killing over it. You are right, he does have the right to say it.

Actually Chas you've never said you were wrong. You just tried to bully and yell and discredit the source as always. And then just ignored it. But hey. There is progress towards you being able to have a conversation at the table with the grown ups.

Now go have JimmyMartyVietnamBoyFucker change your diaper. I think you made a poopy.

It is not problem. First time I ever admitted I was wrong? Really you sure about that? For you to say that is a total load of bullshit and you know it.
Like I said I put myself out there to make a mistake and admit when I am wrong. McNown never is wrong because he does nothing but jump on others.

Hey McNown, what are your thoughts on what is going on in the Middle East and what should we do about it? What about homegrown terrorists, what should they be charged with?

I think we should get the fuck out of there. You don't think that our needless occupation of countries is part of the reason they all hate us?

Homegrown lock them up and throw away the key.

See I been saying that but you said I was spewing hate when I did. What makes it different when you do it?

And bullshit lock them up forever. What they are doing is treason, that means you take them out find a tall tree 5 feet of rope and hang them by the neck until they are dead.

I don't believe in the death penalty. So we're gonna agree to disagree on that one.

Indians are mostly cool, great food and Hinduism is a fairly decent belief system. Now if the guy was actually wearing what you refer to as a "towel" he was probably a Sikh. those guys are nothing to fuck with. They are some of the fiercest fighters in the world. Their religion is a good one too.

Not that you're a slouch, but it sure would be nice to hear people with some authority or socio-political weight get around to saying that a few times.

I didn't say they don't have a special right not to be offended.

My point is that if you know what you're saying is offensive, and that members of the group you're offending have a history of killing over being offended, it just might be smart not to offend them in the first place.

I'm sure the filmmaker didn't consider that, and my point is that he should of.

Not according to the Muslim Brotherhoods website

Statement condemns violence against US interests, says free speech should not extend to acts of ‘barbaric aggression’ that humiliate all Muslims

Without the “criminalization of assaults on the sanctities of all heavenly religions,” the Muslim Brotherhood warned on Thursday, insults to Islam “will continue to cause devout Muslims across the world to suspect and even loathe the West, especially the USA.”

The remarks were part of a statement posted on the English-language website of the Brotherhood in response to a trailer for a new film, which the Egyptian ruling party says is insulting to Islam....

One and a half billion Muslims are subjected to humiliation and abuse in the person of their leader, Mohammed, the Messenger of God, the Prophet of Islam, of mercy and good tidings for the whole world.

With the message of God, Islam, Prophet Mohammed pulled peoples out of the abyss of backwardness and barbarism to the heights of sophistication and honorable humanity.
He lit the pathways of progress and human thought for all mankind, with pure faith in the one God, belief in all Messengers without distinction or discrimination, full respect and reverence for all Prophets......

The West has passed and imposed laws that punish those who deny or express dissident views on the Holocaust or question the number of Jews killed by Hitler, a topic which is purely historical, not a sacred doctrine.
