Toby Ziegler: Well... How about when we, instead of blowing Iraq back to the seventh century for harbouring terrorists and trying to develop nuclear weapons, we just imposed economic sanctions and were reviled by the Arab world for not giving them a global charge card and a free trade treaty? How about when we pushed Israel to give up land for peace? How about when we sent American soldiers to protect Saudi Arabia, and the Arab world told us we were desecrating their holy land? We'll ignore the fact that we were invited. How about two weeks ago, in the State of the Union when the President praised the Islamic people as faithful and hardworking only to be denounced in the Arab press as knowing nothing about Islam? But none of that is the point.

Andrea Wyatt: What is the point?

Toby Ziegler: I don't remember having to explain to Italians that our problem wasn't with them, but with Mussolini! Why does the U.S. have to take every Arab country out for an ice cream cone? They'll like us when we win!

Not according to the Muslim Brotherhoods website

Statement condemns violence against US interests, says free speech should not extend to acts of ‘barbaric aggression’ that humiliate all Muslims

Without the “criminalization of assaults on the sanctities of all heavenly religions,” the Muslim Brotherhood warned on Thursday, insults to Islam “will continue to cause devout Muslims across the world to suspect and even loathe the West, especially the USA.”

The remarks were part of a statement posted on the English-language website of the Brotherhood in response to a trailer for a new film, which the Egyptian ruling party says is insulting to Islam....

One and a half billion Muslims are subjected to humiliation and abuse in the person of their leader, Mohammed, the Messenger of God, the Prophet of Islam, of mercy and good tidings for the whole world.

With the message of God, Islam, Prophet Mohammed pulled peoples out of the abyss of backwardness and barbarism to the heights of sophistication and honorable humanity.
He lit the pathways of progress and human thought for all mankind, with pure faith in the one God, belief in all Messengers without distinction or discrimination, full respect and reverence for all Prophets......

The West has passed and imposed laws that punish those who deny or express dissident views on the Holocaust or question the number of Jews killed by Hitler, a topic which is purely historical, not a sacred doctrine.

It's illegal in Germany to wear/display/sell a product displaying a Swastika (which was a religious/occult rune long before the Nazi party adopted it.) Again, if we as a society can make laws like that; based upon the idea that millions of people would find it offensive, why is it that we can't use a bit of common sense and not be so offensive to religion as a whole?

leashyourkids, yes, it is a slippery slope. But just because a path is dangerous doesn't mean there isn't a way to cross it.

It's a scary place if people think someone should be arrested for a film. And I think it's wrong that the POS holocaust deniers are jailed. They are worthless subhumans but they don't deserve to be in jail.

And who it is to define what is hate speech?

Think about it. Some people here think people deserve jail time for offending people. Think about that for a second.

The same morons actually thought the Muslim Brotherhood was a peaceful organiation.

Just curious. Has anyone here ACTUALLY SEEN the video?

What's really scary is Valerie JArrett has more security than some ambassadors in middle eastern countries.

KS and I get money from porn producers not to post anything with us because if we did people would only want that and never buy the stuff from the regular producers.

We make millions.

No, I wouldn't be for violence and destruction. As I said, there is a fine line to walk, but we have to figure out a way to walk it. The Muslim faith is a growing religion, and to be insensitive to ANY religion is a pretty stupid idea.

Nor did I say people need to be put in prison for offensive speech. I pointed out that we already have examples of what has been ruled offensive worldwide and isn't found acceptable.

And yes, the quote from "West Wing" is very cool. But the reality of it is that when Muslim Extremists (or far extremists of any kind, for that matter) are pissed off, they tend to take violent actions towards innocents.

I dont care about this. Sounds too much like John Kerry's infamous "global test" approach. Our values are different than other nations. Let's do us and let other people do them.
