I pity you. I will show you my graciousness and care for the goodwill of all humans by allowing you to jump on the championship bandwagon for the next two months. Quit wasting your time and money for the next 5 years when what you really are looking for is happening right now, in the present. Don't be afraid of success. Just put your tear saturated hand out and I will help you aboard.

Thanks. But, after 1945, I'll never support the Tigers.

The White Sox will fold like a cheap suit, the same way they did last year.

Chicago Cubs' World Series title reference disappears from new NBC show 'Revolution'

By Rob Manker, Chicago Tribune reporter 1:29 pm, September 18, 2012

As if the Chicago Cubs' season hasn't been tough enough, now they've been stripped of a World Series title they never really had.

When clips of the new NBC sci-fi show "Revolution" debuted online this spring, a scene set in Chicago depicted some of the show's characters walking past an abandoned Wrigley Field in the year 2027. Beneath the stadium's familiar red marquee was a sign declaring the Cubs "2012 World Series champions."

The premise of "Revolution" is that some mysterious force saps the planet of its electricity in 2012, bringing life as we know it to a halt. Governments are toppled. Lawlessness reigns. And, 15 years later, there is no more Major League Baseball.

But when the show premiered Monday night, the Wrigley Field scene shown in the trailer was different. Gone was the declaration of the Cubs as champs, replaced by a plain red background beneath the marquee. Everything else about the post-apocalyptic scene remained the same —still Wrigley Field, still abandoned, still no electricity.

Four months after the original clip appeared, the real 2012 Cubs have the second-worst record in baseball and are mathematically eliminated from any chance of making the playoffs.

Apparently even the bounds of science fiction can be stretched only so far.

I would, but I don't want to see Mike Rizzo rewarded for the Strasburg decision.

He will be back. I don't believe them. It will be just like shutting down a minor league prospect for 4-6 weeks and then firing him back up for the fall league.

I hate you.

That being said, I jumped on the bandwagon some time ago. I don't think they will win this year due to their holes in pitching, but who knows what the next year or two hold.

What holes in their pitching. I see Floyd, Liriano and the bullpen making a championship push right now.

No, lotta good performances lately. Liriano throwing seven no hit innings. Floyd seems to be starting one of his good streaks. Peavy and Sale both going strong. The bullpen, except for Reed, has been shut down good.

I like the starting pitching matchups should they face the Yankees in the first round.

I'm just irritated that we're going to have to endure 3 extra days in October of sports talk radio hosts pretending that people care about the White Sox.

Let's hope it doesn't go that long because I'm pretty sure Sale has to fly south before it gets too cold.

Perhaps I havent paid attention enough but I thought Peavy was struggling and Sale is up and down lately. Agree on Floyd, he's due for an 8 start streak, could be coming at the right time

Peavy & Sale haven't been dominant, but they haven't been struggling either. The bullpen, however, has been dominant lately. For as much as I bashed Thornton earlier in the year (and rightfully so), he has been getting it done for the past 2-3 weeks now every time he goes to the mound.

Peavy and Sale were a lot better in the first half by the numbers.

I guess I just havent seen a dominant game from either in a while.

This is very big of you dolphin.

Why the anger, Cub fans? From everything I'm hearing, your team will be entertaining again in a decade or so...

ESPN Fantasy baseball;
Sale picked up his 17th win of the season after throwing six shutout innings, allowing just three hits with five strikeouts, against the Twins on Friday.
Spin:
Sale's breakout season continues and he is now 5-3 with a 3.18 ERA over his last eight starts. His overall ERA currently sits at 2.78 for the season, and with 173 strikeouts to just 44 walks in 175 innings, he continues to be as dominant a force now as he was back in April.

rogers park bryan wrote:

Of course Sale was better in the first half. Even Elmhurst Steve 'predicted' that Sale's numbers would drop off, to which I replied;
Great insight there. Steve thinks that there is a chance that Chris Sale, pitching in the AL at one of the most home run friendly home ballparks in MLB, might not keep up his pace of a 9-2 record, 2.27 ERA, and 0.97 WHIP.

So let's say after the AS Break, he goes 6-4 with a 3.46 ERA
That's still pretty fucking good, but steve will come back and say "i told you so, i told you there would be a dropoff!"

I dont know anything about what Steve said. Im just saying both Peavy and Sale were better in the first half.

Ivan, I will cut you literally like Rashied Davis should have been.

I do like how people continue to act like the Cubs are the first team to ever rebuild.

And I said of course Sale was better in the first half. 2.27 ERA, a 9-2 record with a WHIP under 1. It would have been goddam tough to keep up those numbers all season and if he did, Cy Young and MVP would have been a lock for him. Doesn't mean he has "struggled" in the 2nd half or recently though.

The amazing thing is Peavy hasn't fallen apart physically... yet. I would add to Frank's comment that given his history, he has pitched a lot of innings for the first time in a while (pitched no more than 110 innings in a season since 2007) and is likely suffering some fatigue in the second half.
