There is entertainment in watching minor league baseball just because it is baseball. There can be an added value to watching Jorge Soler or Javier Baez and those types a few years before you see them at Wrigley (or whatever ballpark they end up playing their most successful years at).
There are people all over the midwest who cherish the fact that they got to see the minor league ascent of Felix Pie and Corey Patterson.

Minor league baseball is about the level of NFL preseason 4th quarters. It's a good waste of time, and it's better than not having it, but it really doesn't matter and you leave not caring about anything that happened besides the fact that you enjoyed the hot dog and fries.

and if it takes me less than half an hour and less than $12/ticket, I'll be happy to watch.

I like baseball so I have no problem enjoying a minor league game. If I have heard of a guy then its a bonus to see them play and its also cool to look back and see if anyone made it from games you had been to in the past. I saw Baez hit a mammoth bomb at KC this year and I also saw him get drilled later in the game for swinging at a 3-0 pitching up 13.

I also went to the 2000 Midwest League all star game at KC and looking back the lineups were impressive. Peavy and Dunn were there. I think Pujols was there and Bill Hall possibly.

Any little thing to increase the Cubs presence in Chicagoland works for me. I don't know if the western suburbs have a dominant team as they are between Wrigely and Cell but this can only help create more Cub fans. Even from northwest suburbs I'd be willing to go and check out a game or two.

in 2-3 years that statement will likely be quite true.

There's a rule that says a minor league team can't be 40 miles (or there abouts) from a major league team. Joliet tried to get a minor league team but both the Sox and Cubs said no unless they pay a hefty fee. Kane County is right across the street from the limit.

If minor league teams can't be close to major league ones how can they let the Cubs be 7 miles from the Sox?

I was in Pennsylvania for a family wedding in 1981 and we went to see the Phillies 3a team. Saw a young kid named Sandberg.

Pretty funny that Sandburg is now managing the Philles Triple-A team.

In other minor league news, another affiliate domino has fallen with the announcement of the Cardinals returning as the parent club of the Peoria Chiefs.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Kansas City Royals take over the team in Quad Cities.

St Louis moved to Peoria.

Quad Cities were St Louis and now look like A's Astros or Angels

Cedar Rapids are now the twins.

A's left Burlington and looking for a new home.

Who is gonna play in Burlington? Or will they not have a team? I am serious about this because I do a lot of work in Burlington Iowa and this could affect my livelihood.
