Tommy Boy: Did you hear I finally graduated?
Richard : Yeah, and just a shade under a decade too. All right.
Tommy Boy: You know a lot of people go to college for seven years.
Richard: I know, they're called doctors.

There were some extenuating circumstances that led to my Van Wilder-like stay.

Not exactly, Memphis wasn't really all that bad to tell you the truth. I had a hell of a lot of fun there as
a 20 year old kid who looked old enough to never be carded. My two main beefs with the school lay in
the fact that while a large university ( over 20,000 ) only about 4,000 students lived on campus. If you
weren't in a frat or sorority there wasn't much else to do except drink at the pool halls, which I did quite
frequently. The fact that there wasn't a true campus lifestyle available was a big turnoff. Had some good
basketball but you would have to get downtown to the Pyramid to see a men's game.

Some really great food down there and Beale Street and Memphis in May are not to be missed if you are
in the area. Never went to Graceland. I was glad I saw the writing on the wall by the end of the semester
and an old friend of mine was looking for a roommate at Illinois State which I really enjoyed. Wish I would have
gone there first. Sent applications to Illinois and Wisconsin as well but didn't have the marks to get in.

Yeah it is amazing that it is a school that big and it is still a commuter college.

NIU is pretty much the same. But the good news is that from NIU you can commute to Chicago.

What favorable destination does one commute to from Memphis?

You missed a key word in my question about Memphis.

SDSU was the same as well. It was a massive school and no one lived on campus.

How in the ever living hell could you not want to go to Arkansas?

Yes.
DePaul University, Bachelor of Computer Science and Information Systems.
It took me five years to complete. I could have finished in four years, but things got drawn out when I got my first job early in my fourth year and didn't want to pass up the opportunity to work with the now current CEO of Twitter and former Governor of Delaware.

I had some fun, but I don't think it was worth it @ all. I've only had one job in the media, for a local monthly. Couldn't afford to keep doing it. Now I work a job I hate, the type of job I went to school to avoid.

BTW, if anyone ever tells you it doesn't matter what degree you have, sock them in their fucking mouth. Companies only look for people who have degrees in a specific field.

My degree is worthless because in this field you have to be connected. If you aren't it's "fuck you". Any other field won't even consider you, even if they are looking for people who can "communicate".

I have had the complete opposite experience. Every job I ever interviewed for there was never any issue I didn't have a technical degree. In IT its refreshing when someone can communicate effectively I guess :D

You need to tell me where you apply, because I can't find anything.

Lessons learned. Don't tell a guy worth $500m+ in the duPont family that his business model has no chance of succeeding because it wont make money depending only on venture capital and advertisement. I won't tell you what I told Dick about his OO database and application that crashed daily.

My five college grad kids, not me. One year, we had five tuitions paid the same time. That was fun. I mention them because I probably have learned more from them than I did in my own checkered academic career.

And the sixth and youngest? I am most proud of him too. He is in the Air Force.
