I apparently wrote "KS" when I meant to write "KC" for the Royals. It was not intentional. Too much message board.

- Lose to the Rays in 4?

The optimism was fun while it lasted. Sox are about to go on a slide like it's April or May. Tigers will win the division by 3 games.

I'm starting to rollercoaster as well. I look at the Angels and Rays on the schedule and don't know how they are going to win this thing.

I know. Also, while the Indians have been as bad as any team in the second half, they still play the Tigers pretty well. I see the Sox going 8-5 to close out the season. Tigers would then have to go 10-3, which is doable but unlikely.

I think it hinges on this weekend. The pyschological advantage of a lead.

If they have a 2 game or more lead monday, its over.

If its less....doubt starts to creep in

shit, the tigers don't play the indians. We have to rely on KC and the Twins from here on out.

They really need Peavy to pitch a game tonight.

I have a real fear that this thing will be tied going into the final series. The Rays are fading but are still dangerous and 4 game series always seem to end in 2-2 splits. I just don't see the Sox pulling better than 8-5 down the stretch.

No worries, gd. For whatever reason, the Sox tend to play up or down to their competition. I expect at least 2 wins this weekend, at least 2 against Cleveland, and probably 3 against Tampa as they should be eliminated by the time they roll into the Cell next week. 8) 8)

Oh Ivan, my ass. ( :-? ) They will win the division. That much is promised. It's only a matter of how many games. I'm not sure what the playoffs hold for them, but I cannot tollerate this sky is falling (a corn) mentality.

Of course he's right. We've been right since March. It would take a Theo-esque meltdown for the Sox to lose this. I'm sure there's a couple bumps on the road left, but just enjoy the ride into and thru October 8)

After the Sox win maybe one PO game and head into the off season, look for Ventura to launch Don Cooper. Robin after this unexpected season will have more say so. His first move is to drown a rat.

Jimmy, you should probably go away again for a few months. The Sox bullpen, full of rookies, has been pretty good all year, and they have also overcome a number of injuries to the starting rotation (including the opening day starter), and you suggest they should get rid of the pitching coach?

Laugh out loud!

I made it clear. He's a RAT! That is why he will be launched.Pitching coaches are a dime a dozen

Jimmy...

He helped a first time manager to an unexpected playoff berth and less than a year ago Reinsdorf pretty much chose him over Ozzie.

He's in the family. He goes nowhere unless he wants to

I appreciate Ivan's courage. While I would not want him in my foxhole, I certainly would like him to be in the next foxhole over.

Sox will have this thing wrapped up before the Bears play again!
