I've just about lost all faith in Cutler. I was really high on him coming in to the season but he just continues to disappoint me and piss me off at the same time.

I can't hate Obama because every time Romney speaks somehow I forget all my complaints about him. I'll follow Ann Romney's advice and not criticize Romney because I understand that running for president is hard and I'm not in the arena so I can't say anything. I do wonder if it's harder being president than running for it though.

Ok.

Let's say the day before the trade, Cutler made up with the Broncos and ended up staying.

No trade made.

Where would the Bears be? Who would be their QB?

I know we cant KNOW, but just guessing

0-3 right now with people constantly bitching about the current QB. No idea who that would be, maybe still Orton

Listen, Keith Bogans wasn't working out and why should we worry about the QB when we have a head coach who is being a raging hardon to the beat reporters?!?

Bests would still be 2-1 right now. Tebow would be the QB

Yeah. You also see the difference in WR on that team? The separation at the line? The ability to run back to the ball? Not to mention play calling that actually makes sense when you cannot keep your QB upright.. A lot of slants, etc.

Everyone but Marshall gets bullied at the line. So then they double Marshall and watch Cutler take sacks. But he should be throwing the ball away. That's how you win. You hypnotize the defense with perfect spirals into their bench area and they eventually just stop doubling your physical #1, and everything else falls into place. We know this better than anyone. We saw it for many years. Screens and throwing the ball away. It's common sense. We have the rings and offensive records to prove it.

Christ is this town stupid...

Even against probably the best rushing defense in the league, I think we will finally see an offense centered around a consistent running game rather than an erratic QB this week. The result will be an ugly Bears win, but it will provide the blueprint for how this team is SUPPOSED to play on offense, given their personell. If the Bears dont turn the ball over, they can beat any team in the league. I dont think Cutler will ever win a SB here because he wont be able to put together 3-4 games in a row against top level teams without turning the ball over. Like BRick said, every problem Cutler has is a result of him thinking he is a better QB than he is. Campbell doesn't have that problem.

Forte is quietly working on a HoF career.

His stats are better than all his peers and he'll probably play 2 or 3 more years. What he's doing in this era of RB by committee is unprecedented.

Not at all. But I've agreed for years that he's a great RB and underrated.

He's a compiler. He's an average to good runner & a good to great receiver out of the backfield. He isn't as anywhere near as talented at either than Roger Craig (who isn't in the HOF himself, with an integral role on a much more accomplished team)

If Curtis Martin is a HOF'er then Forte very well could be.

I've argued (now for years) that he is good, but nothing particularly special, certainly not HOF worthy. NFL Films would be hard pressed to find 3-4 minutes of actual highlight tape to support the argument that he is not just great, but all time great.

They could at least do that much for Franco Harris

Curtis Martin, who imo was better than Forte, doesn't belong in the HOF either.

He has the most yards from scrimmage since he's been in the NFL and his level of consistency is rare. All of this has been accomplished despite playing behind arguably the worst offensive lines over the past 8 years and for some bad offenses.

Relatively low YPC & YAC hurt. The lack of top end speed, inside power and shiftiness hurt. He's a Clydesdale. He's a swing pass for five on 2nd & nine. Three-four really good games a year. He's the "consumate professional". Again, a plow horse or a Clydesdale.

There are great Clydesdales, they just don't appear in the NFL HOF as you would wish for Forte.

His offensive lines havent been good, but they haven't been historically bad as you're implying either. Most years for him they have been average or slightly below, sometimes a bit above. The most yards from scrimmage is obviously because AP got hurt for an entire year, and suspended for another, or else that wouldn't be close. It's simply not true to say what he is doing is unprecedented.

FF he had the most yards before AP was ineligible to play last year. AP didn't miss an entire season because of injury. Prior to last year they had pretty much played the same number of games. Forte has more yards from scrimmage because he's more versatile.

I hope I eat these words at some point, but I no longer have any faith in the guy to perform when it matters or to overcome adversity.

This was the thread that converted me.

His offensive lines have been brutal. He hasn't played behind a good run blocking line in his career. AP hasn't played behind a bad one.

You are right, I forgot his injury was at the end of the year and he didn't miss time.

But, where are you getting your numbers?

http://www.nfl.com/player/mattforte/234/careerstats

http://www.nfl.com/player/adrianpeterso ... areerstats

According to the stats on nfl.com, Adrian Peterson has 12,333 combined rush, receiving, and return yards. Forte has 11,597. And that is with AP missing almost the entire season last year and not yet playing this week. The difference should be more exaggerated.

Versatility can be overrated, the way you are looking at it. Forte never has and never will be in AP's class as a football player. He's probably a better person though.

Edit: Nevermind, just noticed AP has played one more season. So actually, considering he missed all last year, the number of games played should still be very similar, and AP has outproduced Forte either way.
