Detroit has the easier schedule remaining..but I think the sox take it..they weathered the storm already with the 5 losses straight and are still up 1.

I've had a feeling about this team all year, Kid. I think this week will be their biggest test. After that, all the pressure is off because they weren't even supposed to contend for the Central, let alone win it. I could honestly see them getting hot and playing very late into October.

Not to go all IMU on you guys, but I'm lucky enough to have disposable income where I could easily go to anywhere from 12-20 games a season. I just don't have the time during the week.

I am planning to be there on Thursday.

There you go. There are all kinds of different reasons why people don't go. They're all legitimate. There's no imperative for anyone to attend. It's up to the Sox to make people want to attend. If having a good team isn't working, they need to try something beyond that. It's not my problem.

Hell, I heard Big Sox Fan Sir Laurence Holmes last night say he "had an opportunity to go to tonight's game" which I assume means he had a free ticket. Now here's a guy who has blasted Sox fans about the attendance all season and he's telling you he won't go on a free ticket when he's ten minutes away. His reason was that the Sox make him swear. Okay. Everyone has his reasons. Larry should remember that next time he wants to rant on the fans that aren't there.

Look...The attendance is what it is. It doesn't matter how many fans were in the ballpark, but I'm bothered when I hear guys like Ed Farmer continue to bitch & moan about the lack of fan support. The Tampa Bay Rays, who visit U.S. Cellular Field starting Thursday, is in a similar boat. They can't draw flies to Tropicana Field either!

Right now, that's the idea, Frank. I'm not sure how much the Royals can actually help the White Sox. I'm tired & annoyed of the whole White Sox attendance issue. It should have been a dead issue after they won the World Series in 2005.

They can help the Sox a great deal by winning tonite and tomorrow.

I still think this is pretty likely. 5-3 in the remaining 8 games I think gives them a real good shot.

Is anybody else keeping the faith? Is it just me and eye van among Sox fans? Have you thrown in the towel or do you think the Sox can still do this? I still think this is the most pressure they will feel. If they can get hot and win this division, I think the stay hot and roll deep into October.

I was looking up team HR stats to see if the Sox were leading the league since they seem to always be hitting them and they were 2nd behind the Yankees and their extremely short right field porch. Then I looked at doubles and they are dead last in the majors which kinda shocked me. It doesn't really mean anything, I just thought it was a weird oddity. That is all. Carry on with the attendance talk.

You don't see it, Kid? I'm not saying its going to happen, but you can't see where this is the biggest pressure cooker the Sox will be in all year? They aren't even supposed to be here, and if they make the playoffs, they won't be favored to win anything except by TSPeeps and myself. Once they clinch, all the pressure is off of them and on the other teams (except for maybe Baltimore but it looks like they are going to have to play a 1 game playoff just to advance).

Yankees? They are expected to win the pennant every damn year. A lot of people pencil them in for the AL East title before Spring Training even begins. Their "drought" has lasted all of 2 fucking seasons. Must be nice.

Texas? A mere strike away- twice- from winning it all last year, coming off back to back WS losses. Granted winning the pennant 2 years in a row is real fucking tough, but you can't say they aren't feeling the pressure of maybe realizing that this is their final chance to win it all.

A's & O's (Or Rays, Angels)....?
Well, they are going to have to burn their #1 or #2 pitcher just to play on. The Angels were expected to contend with all the money they spent and they have been a disappointment. Oakland has.....uh....well, they have some ballplayers, I think. Forgive me for not expecting their lineup to get anything done in the playoffs, and I really don't fear facing Tommy Milone or Brandon freakin McCarthy. Short of winning out, Tampa is about done. SHARK will lament the O's vs the Sox record wise, but they don't scare me either.

I've said all along the Sox biggest enemy is themselves. Over the last week, that unfortunately has been the case. In KC, those were 3 very winnable games. Angels series was pretty tough, but still could have gotten 1 out there. Had chances to win yesterday. How many times thru the season did Quintana leave in the 8th or 9th with a 1-0 lead to see Thornton blow it? Peavy had like a 5 start stretch in the middle of the season where he had an ERA under 2, but had an 0-4 record because the Sox were giving hime 1 run to work with. Still though, they can do this.

I just have a feeling that if the Sox win the Central, they will be playing at least thru the ALCS and perhaps even longer
