Frank, I actually pretty much agree with you. IF (big if) they get in the playoffs I think they can be a dangerous team. Sale and Peavy will be a tough matchup for any of those teams and you guys have proven you seem to play better against the better teams in the AL.

His original argument was that the ABC bosses would not be satisfied unless either Boston or LA were in the Finals. My argument was that the Finals would garner high ratings as long as Miami is in, regardless of who they played. He continued with the Boston/LA thing and I kept telling him that Miami was the cash cow and that LA/Boston was irrelevant.

Miami eliminates Boston in the ECF. Then SHARK says that the ABC bosses are now happy that Miami and Lebron will be in the Finals. Well guess what?

The Spurs thing wasn't really a part of the argument. SHARK just kept referencing them and their low Finals ratings from 2007 for some reason. It wasn't relevant to what I was saying.

How could he repeatedly argue that ABC only wants LA or Boston in the Finals, and then turn around and say that ABC is happy with Miami in the Finals? Complete contradiction.

Peavy has sucked when the pressure is on and will get lit up if and when he toes the rubber in the post season. He is the Sox version of Ryan Dempster.

I can see how the second part is annoying, but the spurs were definitely a part of that at some point.

People here were denying that the Spurs are ratings death.

My point regarding the Spurs was that even if they got to the Finals, the ratings would still be high as long as Miami made it. It all came back to Miami for me. I even cited the 2011 Dallas/Miami series as an example. Nationally, nobody gives a fuck about the Mavericks, but the Finals still got great ratings because of the Miami factor.

And furthermore, we have a long list of evidence of the Spurs being ratings death. I think that is what SHARK was referring to.

It's long since waned, but around 2002-2004, white America was really excited about Dirk, Nash, their non-grindy whiteness, and a Mark Cuban that hadn't come to wear everyone's ass out yet. That might have just been a Steve Nash thing more than a Mavericks thing, because everyone was enamored of the Suns as soon as he went to Phoenix.
