Is tonight a dog night? I'll find you and I expect you to autograph my DVD of Love Cruise.

Yep, tonight's dog night. I'll be with my brother, his wife, my gf and our two yellow labs so shouldn't be hard to find. I'm wearing my back in style #23 Robin Ventura jersey.

twice a year they have a dog day where you can bring your dog. Need to get tickets months in advance cause it sells out.

That is the answer to their problems. Every night dog night!

Because I'm out of touch with such things, which South Loop are you talking about? The actual Congress-to-Roosevelt South Loop, or the "anything which, factually speaking, is south of the Loop" South Loop?

Shouldn't be hard. A lot of empty seats again tonight.

So, round numbers- about 40K capacity, regular attendance this year 18-22K, right? Half of those have to be season tickets, so 8-10K of those sold. Room for 30K of regular joes. Peeps has connections and goes about 20 times a year, if one fourth of the attendance is like him, that could make up for 5K each night, leaving 5-7K of people who go 1-5 times a year. So you end up with somewhere between 100K and half a million individual fans making up the rest of the attendance.

I know, tl,dr. But my point is most of the fans don't go all that often- we watch or listen to the games. And it is widely known that the SOX have the absolute worst broadcast teams ever employed. You make it to a game once a month or less and the other nights you get driven from the team by Hawk or Farmer. Even this year as special as it has been, was really tough to listen or watch the games. If you don't get excited about the team on the nights you can't go, you won't make the effort to go.

Or they just need a couple more bars near the park.

Its been so long since I've been to a game I forgot just how much baseball sucks. Halfway through the bottom of the 5th there's a pitcher change and its already 9:00. We took that opportunity to get the hell out of there. The hot dog was good, the parade was a lot of fun and it was a blast having the dogs there and seeing all the other dogs. But, that sport should be taken out back with all the other outdated hobbies/pastimes and shot in the head and buried in an unmarked grave next to stamp collecting and croquet.

I looked for you out there but I only saw one yellow Lab and he was with an older guy. There were a shitload of dogs. I didn't see even one that wasn't well socialized either.

I remember back when they had Dog Day during Saturday day games in August. That was before they figured out that fireworks wasn't a great idea with a few hundred dogs at the game. When the Sox hit a homer the animals were jumpy as hell. I specifically remember the game that got the thing moved to night games at a cooler time of year. It was about 105 degrees and the poor dogs all had their tongues hanging against the cement on the concourse.

You might have picked the absolute worst example of a baseball game on which to base your decision.

The crisp fall air tells you that post-season baseball is just around the corner. Playoff tickets have already gone on sale. Your team is in contention for their division title and yet if you are actually at the ballpark to cheer your team on, you may be a Baseball fan, but you're not a White Sox fan.....

and in the distance, the soft voice of Theo calls out "Wait till next....ur, uh, I mean wait at least until 2014 but probably longer as it takes a lot to build a team from the bottom up!"

The best part of it for Cubs fans, is that Hoyer/Epstein were upfront about this. We knew the team would not contend in 2012 and will not in 2013 either. Nobody should be upset about losing 100, because whether the number is 92, 95 or over 100, means nothing except a better draft choice. Patience is a virtue and in time, this should provide cub fans with a team capable of sustained excellence. It will be well worth the wait and when it happens, the stands will be packed, not half full. It should be a source of great shame to Sox management that they have averaged crowds of 24,000 fans while the Cubs have averaged 35,000. That, with a team that will lose perhaps over 100 games, while they had a team in contention for their division. Shameful...

I had a 278 two weeks ago today. Oh and thats a sanctioned league, so lets get that straight too. Go look it up dipshit. It's the thursday night trio league at Poplar creek Bowl. Had a 624 series this past Sunday at Classic Bowl as well. Thats a sanctioned league too. You should be able to tell that I've done fairly well by the fact that Chus has not bothered to report my scores.

I'm surprised. You are exactly the type of pud I would figure to tank games early in the year to give yourself a higher handicap.

What shame would attendance bring on me. Conversely, what comfort does Cub attendance bring to you. The answer on both sides should be none.

As far as patience, your father, his father and his father all had patience. They put their faith in good baseball men. Dallas Green was every bit the administrative baseball mind as Theo. Mc Phail had much success in Minnesota. Both would have been just as worthy in placing blind faith as you do Theo...and neither produced a world series.

I had the absolute closest point total as well as the winning team (of course) , but missed the exact total of the Packers by a single point. If the contest had any real integrity, I would have been the winner that week. The total for each team was the closest of all. Don't try to discredit that pick.

You lost according to the rules. The contest would have no integrity if you were deemed the winner because you missed one of the basic requirements of the contest. You failed. Again. Keep on keeping on, Stephan.

Good lord, the rule of having one of the scores was posted in the first post in the contest thread. Retroactively changing it would have discredited the entire contest. In closing, get over it, and shut the hell up.
