Your response should be: Who are you defying and why?

So apparently the "it's a boy" announcement was announcing someone else was having a boy...

...tempted to get on there and say "water just broke!"

A general DB to any idiot getting married who takes the time out to update their relationship status just after being announced as husband and wife.

So the status should stay as "engaged" until when exactly?

Facebook is for people to stay in touch with friends and family. I'm pretty damn sure anyone who would care if you were engaged or married probably is in attendance for the festivities. Go have fun, maybe during a lull in the reception or the next day. But some folks don't even wait for the service to end to update it. (Seriously, where do some women hide a cell phone on a wedding dress? There's no pockets!!!)

It's not like a baby announcement. Immediate family only are usually the only people at the hospital, so throwing up a birth announcement really quick is one thing.

This is exactly how I plan on announcing my eventual demise, to a resounding flurry of "Likes."

Yeah the dude is kind of a tool. The funny thing is he's one of the least toughest guys I have met in the Army.

Obviously not, but there's not really a correlation there either. Most guys I met in the Army are cool as hell. This guy is not representative of most Army guys at all.

Yeah, that makes sense. Sorry. I thought you were against status-changing in general.

My older sister was complaining on FB about how Goebberts farm charges an entrance fee now. She deleted my response (to keep all responses agreeing with her), and then texted me a book on why they shouldn't charge.

Summary of that 'book:'

"Because they didn't before."

Your sister is Bigfan?

Why would they start charging people just to get inside? People go there to spend money. Cars are lined up across fields to get in there and buy shit. Charging people seems pretty silly to go to a store.

Not always. My sister (and apparently her FB friends' families) would go there just to look around. That is the gist of the Facebook conversation. Now they cannot do it for free anymore.

I'm assuming, like with most businesses in 2012, their costs are significantly higher than they were 10-15 years ago. Insurance, maintenance, staff...they can't get away with the revenue solely from their standard goods, and hay wagon rides.

Apparently, since people are willing to go there just to go there...it is probably something that has monetary value. Goebberts' has ever right to charge an entrance fee if they've got a bunch of people going there taking up room and such but not buying anything.

Seems kinda dumb to go to a store just to go there. Spend some money people!

I hope you went to the "I'm sorry you're poor" response.

We just went to Bengtson's (sp?). It was 11.99 a person to get in and luckily the kids rides were free or they would have been an extra 2 bucks a pop. Fuckin pumpkin patches...

^^^^Has clearly never been to Goebbert's^^^^

Buying an actual pumpkin is about the 9th thing on the list of things kids want to do at Goebbert's.

We have to start every year by feeding the giraffes carrot sticks.
That cost $5 for a styrofoam cup full. :|

There's a guy outside my Jewel that will let you feed him for free. The Spanky household sounds very wasteful.

Goebberts website says there is no general admission fee. Their pumpkins are typically pricey.

That's the way it's always been. You can get "in" for free and get to things like the pumpkins, shops, food areas and kid picture areas for free.

It costs extra for the zoo, rides, and the pumpkin-eating dinosaur thingy.

Their pumpkins are pricier than Wal-Mart, but then again I'm not gonna hang out on a fall day at Wal-Mart with my kids either.

Even with the entrance fee, five dollars for a camel sounds pretty reasonable.

I think the zoo part was 10 bucks or so. If they charge 10 to get in and 10 for the zoo, they might have priced me out. Too bad because it was one of the nicest and cleanest ones.

That example makes me really sad that I'm not on Facebook. It seems like I'm missing a lot:

Original thought/post followed by:

1. Somebody agreeing
2. Somebody else saying the same thing
3. Repeat
4. Repeat
5. Repeat
6. Repeat
7.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
46. Repeat

What exactly compels everyone after....say.....#2 to post the exact same thing over again?

We've gone to Goebbert's every single year for almost 15 years. They have always charged for the animal area. It was $10 last year.

I'm with spaulding, if it is entry fee + animal fee = I'm out
