I was intrigued by your comment, so I Googled the guy, but my cursory glance didn't really turn up anything interesting. Do tell a fact or 2 about his story.

His website is pretty cool. When you hover the mouse over him, it shows a skeleton where you can click for videos and stuff. His bio wasn't helpful about telling an interesting story, so I'm intrigued to know what it is.

http://www.carllabove.com/

SPOILER ALERT:

It goes a little something like this:

LaBove was best friends with fellow comedian Sam Kinnison. The two were together when Kinnison got into a car accident that killed him. According to LaBove, Kinnison literally died in his arms (and goes on to talk about his last words, which were both creepy and incredibly interesting).

Fast forward a few years when LaBove's daughter is 4 years old. He and his wife had already been divorced for a few years, but LaBove is then told that his daughter - whom he adores - is actually Kinnison's.

Talk about a mindfuck: your best friend dies in your arms then you learn that he slept with your wife and who you thought was your daughter is actually your dead friend's.

LaBove then attempts a failed suicide with two leather belts only to go on stage and perform comedy the next night.

Im going to listen to another episode and maybe one of you can give it a whirl and tell me what you think, because immediate reaction: The best thing ever.

He talks about nothing (hampers, pants, drinking, women, drinking) and its fucking HILARIOUS

He also has meetups with fans after his stand up shows for the "Larry Miller Drinking Society"

He opens the show with

Welcome to This week in Larry Miller. Im Larry Miller, but then again, arent we all?

Listened to a second show and it was just as funny and guru-ish

Someone else please give this a listen and tell me if Im crazy

The dude from Hoarders, Matt Paxton's podcast.
If you like him on the show, you'll really like it.

Isn't he dead? Fell walking out of a bar to take a phone call, hit his noggin on the sidewalk.

Help me out here... I am too lazy to do the google.

I have listened to podcasts before when I've missed something on B&B, so I go to their website and click on the hour I want to listen to and all is good in the world.

How would I set it up so I could subscribe to a podcast? I have an Android phone, and if I could plug it in at night and then on the car ride in to work, when I am disconnected from the interweb, if the phone had some podcast ready to go, that would be awesome. Certainly there is a way to do this, right? Some software to download or something? If I have to manually do it, I can tell you right now, that's not going to happen because I am way too lazy.

Carl LaBove told his story on Marc Maron's podcast a year ago. It's amazing and he got totally fucked over in that situation.

Stuff You Should Know
Personal Arrogants
Boars, Gore, and Swords (mostly a Game of Thrones cast)
Anything from BaldMove

Nerdist has some good ones recently. Timothy Olyphant, Warren Ellis, CM Punk, Malcom McDowell.

Maron's interviews with Louis CK (part I only), Jimmie Walker, Budd Friedman, and weirdly, Pauly Shore. All must listens for fans of stand up comedy IMHO.

Yes, I also found the Carrot Top interview to be interesting as well. His kick of interviewing musicians lately has been underwhelming.

Agreed. But after more than three hundred episodes his well has got to be running a bit dry. Here's hoping he talks to Kyle Kinane soon.

I dont listen when he has a musician or non comedian or actor on. Didnt listen to Colt Cabana even though I like CM Punk.

Worth listening to John Legend on the Champs with Brennan/Kasher podcast. Only musician along with drummer from Roots, forget his name but also on Champs, that was a good listen.

Skip the Seth Green and Favreau episodes of WTF. Not very good IMO.

Favreau was okay if a bit bland, seems like he'd have a better story though. Dave Koechner was pretty good as well as Jonathan Katz and Craig Ferguson.

I wouldn't mind getting into some podcasts but I have a feeling it would be similar to me recording TV shows where I record, don't watch and then the backlog is too great to bother when I finally have a couple of minutes to myself.

If you can get em on your phone, just listen when your in the car. I fall behind on them all the time. Most of them make sure not to be too timely so you can listen whenever

I dont get the Maron love.

Some of his episodes are great, but to me, its always the guest and not him. He's not especially funny (for a comic) and not a great interviewer

The problem is that "whenever" never happens for me. I really only listen to a little bit of sports radio as it is.

sounds reasonable

I was thinking the other day that I am far enough along in retirement that I could raid my account, fake my death and go lead a beach bum life with enough to survive. If the family catches up to me though, I'm doomed. Then again, why would they?

It isn't even just my job that takes up my time. Yesterday I was involved in baseball clinics from 8-1 and basketball until 3:30. I had my first morsel of food for the day at 4. My wife had the balls to tell me, "at least you have your night free".

I caught for the first time in about six months yesterday. I'm walking today like Alice in The Brady Bunch grand canyon episode
