Their sophomore effort is really good, these Irish lads know how to do it...

Good to hear. I was considering picking this up over the weekend. Still on the fence about new Band of Horses release.

Just got through this for the first time. I really enjoyed the first three albums. This one not as much.
They went with a new producer and they really put out a different sound. I would have considered
them more alternative previously but there are a number of folkish upbeat tunes on here that seem
strange. It isn't bad just different. Maybe I will like it after a few more spins.

One of the banner ads just showed the new Cher Lloyd album. I heard her on the radio this morning at the gym and holy fuck is that one of the worst songs I have ever heard. Avoid at all costs.

No way. You sure are faithful to that album. It was on my wishlist last year.

I think so. I'm not the biggest MUSE fan, but I'm loving Madness, Follow Me, and Panic Station so far.
Just got it today.

I really enjoyed Black Holes and Revelations. The Resistance was ok...I'll probably give this a shot over the weekend.

New Titus Andronicus. Starts off promising enough but ultimately loses momentum and doesn't compare to the first two albums so far in my listening.

It's not great, but I don't hate it, either.

While I think you have decent musical tastes, I imagine that triple album set will be one of the worst contributions to music in the last decade.

I dunno...half this albums feels like Dookie. The other half feels like Foo Fighters lite. I'm just not sure how I feel about it right now.

Was in Target and decided to take a quick stroll through their pathetic music department.
Found this one for $5. Had to take it home. I still have most of the lyrics memorized. :D

For progressive metal fans, this is the best album I've heard in the last ten years:

Seventh Wonder Mercy Falls

Image

This came out in 2008, but I only recently discovered this group from Sweden. The bass player and singer are the real standouts, but all five players are phenomenal, the concept/story is cool, and the production is stellar. If you like Dream Theater, you will like this even better -- catchy melodies throughout and complicated song structures, but without as much showing off and wankery.

Their follow up, The Great Escape (2010), is also excellent.

Chris (call him Christopher) Hall is one of the biggest poseur douchebags I've ever had the misfortune of meeting.
Walter and Andy are cool, and Sellers is a mensch, but Hall is a laugh riot.
