Chicago Bears rookie receiver Alshon Jeffery will miss some time after suffering a fracture of his right hand, a source confirmed Monday.

ESPN Chicago first reported the news.

Jeffery suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 41-3 win over the Jaguars. He scored a touchdown on a 10-yard slant in front of Jaguars cornerback Rashean Mathis. Jeffery had his hand wrapped after the game and it was noticeably swollen.

When asked about the injury after the game, Jeffery said, "I could have kept playing. I'm confident it's not serious."

The Bears now have two top targets on the mend as Earl Bennett continues to deal with a hand injury of his own. Bennett was inactive for the last two games, but coach Lovie Smith said Monday that Bennett is likely to return for the team's next game against Detroit (Oct. 22).

Yea, that sucks. I'm really hoping the Bears make sure he doesn't get lazy during his time off & put on weight. Hopefully he can step right back in to the starting lineup when he's healthy.

I loved the pick and have been pleasantly surprised with his production & physicality so far. Looks like he could be a very good receiver based on what we've seen so far. It's going to be exciting to watch him mature as a WR.
