If he takes his race-war schtick on the road with a Gomer-and-his-Sister-Wives voice in place of his BECK A DA YEARDS voice, methinks Goff's Atlanta career will be short-lived.

Listening to Laurence Holmes' nighttime SCORE last night, Holmes, his producers Herb Lawrence & Joe Ostrowski & update guy Wayne Randazzo were about to put fellow update guy Connor McKnight on a tee for vending machine snacks pretzels & Cheez-Its when Goff called in right before "Hater Wednesday".

Based on what I heard, Goff couldn't pass up what sounded like an opportunity of a lifetime joining a station that features these guys...NFL Network's Jamie Dukes, CBS Sports' college/NFL analyst Randy Cross, NBA TV's Rick Kamla, & former Steeler & onetime Bears' QB Kordell Stewart.

Bernstein has gleefully brought up this Sheehan newsletter in numerous transitions with the same exact "meh" response from Mac and Spiegs.

I like how they're talking about how "everyone" is like "WHY COULDN'T IT HAVE BEEN _______" and in all the names they're rattling off--Bernstein, Mac, Spiegs--no one is mentioning the name that we actually threw out, which I think is really, really, really interesting.

Guys, I thought they were referring to Goff's new home at The Game in Atlanta being a start-up sports talker.

Also kind of dishonest for Dan to say that Jason hustled to the top on his own and his story shall be a lesson to all the other producers who bitch about not getting their shot because they don't have a guy. Yeah, except most guys don't get to produce a show that requires minimal production, nor do their hosts allow them to elevate themselves to ersatz co-host. Oh, and the Score Search winner was his intern. #youdidntbuildthat

They're reading the board and how "every departure becomes a referendum on everyone else," namely we were sad that Jason was leaving. A lot of people were saying "why did it have to be Jason?" here, but they were suggesting that we wanted Dan or Mac to leave. We actually wanted to PEACH THAT, but they suggested otherwise. Should've read the board a little better!

Here's the Thursday Game Plan:

*3:30P: "The Second Half"
*4:30P: FOX Sports/NFL Network Analyst Brian Billick-Working Cowboys/Ravens w/Sam Rosen & Sideline Reporter Laura Okmin Sunday
*5P: "Who Ya Crappin'?"-Gary From Evanston's Favorite Segment

"Scoreboard Updates": Connor McKnight

The good news...NO LAURENCE HOLMES TONIGHT! The bad news...Chicago Bears Network's "Bears All Access" w/The SCORE/WBBM Newsradio's Zach Zaidman follows the guys @ 6P. I don't know if this is even better. "Thursday Night Football" follows "Bears' All Access" @ 7P this eve. Dial Global Sports' Ian Eagle, Trent Green & Laura Okmin paint the picture for Steelers/Titans from Nashville, while Scott Graham "crackers" through Dial Global's pre, halftime & postgame show from New York. "SCORE Overnight" (EP Version) with Les Grobstein follows football until 5A Friday.

Lerry does seem to be off limits at the Score when it comes to criticism. I guess it's good to be Mitch's power bottom bitch.

It's not even criticism, it's acknowledging that someone else criticized him. Remarkable.

I did not like Bernsy admonishing current/former part-time hosts and producers waiting for their break. Jason definitely worked his ass off to put himself in position to land this great gig, but also the stars were perfectly aligned. While I'm not familar with the inner workings of the radio industry, radio execs seem to be insanely risk-averse. When the Score re-vamped they rearranged familiar faces with M&H, re-hiring M&S and pushing LoHo into nights even after the H&H debacle. WGN re-hired Johnny B for goodness sakes. How the hell is a young guy supposed to break into the biz and shake shit up? Good for ATL for taking a chance.

Caught a bit of his show last night. Eerie-uhh (area) needs to be added to his list of mispronounced words. "DePaul is over in that eerie-uhh."

Laurence also kept referring to DePaul's possible new arena as a "stadium".

Speaking as a fellow addict, getting off chew and caffeine may have affected Josh Hamilton's performance. I've seen people kick heroin easier than nicotine. I've also seen people at AA/NA meetings put a way away a pot of coffee, half a container of creamer, and 40 sugar packets in an hour. Many addicts need some kind of crutch to hang onto.

POSSIBLE HINT: Brian Billick is being circumlocutional about the fact that the Cowboys don't have a general manager because Brian Billick wishes to be the Cowboys' general manager.

As for owners who are day-to-day general managers: pretty sure Mike Brown is the active general manager of the Bengals right now. Al Davis was the general manager between his death and George Halas's.

Hasn't Jerry Jones been the Owner, President & General Manager since he bought the Dallas Cowboys in 1989? I could've sworn he has.
