If there was a film that could finally wipe the stink off of Affleck's career after "Gigli", this is that movie.

This is a great film. It sews up the "Argo" movie stuff a tad too easily in the beginning but the tension that builds in the third act is absolutely absorbing. Affleck does a great job of taking a back seat as far as this being "his" film. His character is very low key, almost unrecognizable, and his laid back approach to allowing the story to flesh itself out naturally is done very well. This film is well paced, well acted, well shot, and extremely timely considering what just happened to our embassy recently.

There are also some big laughs in this film which breaks up the tension.

Bryan Cranston needs an oscar nod. his performance is scene stealing. so is alan arkin's.

the signature line (you'll know when you hear it) gets a little played out but this is easily the best film i've seen for 2012 so far.

"Lincoln" is most likely going to be the oscar king this year but i hope this film gets some awards because they're well deserved. probably overdramatized in its final climax but it's damn effective.

:D :D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

Did Affleck's career still need a shaking off of the stink? Hard to poke fun at him after Gone Baby Gone and The Town.

i think he's still feeling the effects...i mean, i'm just saying if he needed a pardon, this would certainly be the ultimate one.

I read the Wired article. Seems pretty cool. I've heard it's been pretty hyped by critics.

Well said by the WZ. The main criticism in the reviews was Affleck casting himself in the lead. I was actually impressed. The fact that his character was low key was a good thing. Goodman and Arkin were great. I thought it was the perfect casting for their respective roles.

It wasn't until the end credits that I realized the younger female hostage was Kerry Bishe. I kept thinking it was Teri Polo(Greg Focker's wife) with a lot of makeup to conceal her true age.

Ben Affleck is the closest thing to Mexican they have in Hollywood apparently.

Just bumping this as a reminder to anyone who wanted to check this out as it is out on DVD starting today.
May even be available On Demand but not sure about that. I plan on renting it tonight after work and
giving it a watch.

This was a pretty good movie. I didn't know much about this situation before watching the movie.
I don't think I will remember most of the best picture nominees this year but this is one of the best of
those nominated. During the final credits they showed pictures of the actors next to actual photos of
the people at the time. They did a great job casting.

I really really liked the movie, but was really disappointed to find out all the cool stuff (basically the entire ending) didn't actually happen.

I know movies are fake and all, but for some reason finding that out spoiled this for me.

stayed up to watch this win best picture. after all the prizes it was getting pre-oscars, i was pretty sure it'd win; but especially after ang lee won for best director, it was a sure thing.

it was just a great film. i understand what bucky's saying but honestly did you think the reality would've been that cinematic? schindler didn't actually say he wish he'd done more, either, but it still made for a great scene at the end of "schindler's list". enjoy it for what it is. had to have some kinda climax. 8)
