But seriously, that does suck. I watched it last night but I was pretty hammered so I'm gonna give it another shot today.

I was heartened by the fact that Lori, at the very least, had the self awareness to realize that both Carl and Rick hated her guts for what they did to them.

I still love the episode from Season 2 that had her verbally abusing Rick about leaving her and Carl to go into town to find supplies, she was pretty bad too him. 25 minutes later she gets in a car and goes to find Rick even though she has no idea where Rick is, she also doesn't tell Carl or anyone else. She almost dies, trashes the car etc.

Dumb whore.

That had to be the record for zombie killings in an episode.

Its definitely faster paced, but it seemed a little too fast paced last night. We don't really know why Lori is at such odds with Rick and Carl. She was mad at Rick for killing Shane, but that was months ago and we don't really know why Rick hates her so much. We can assume we know, but its somewhat of a leap of faith to get from Lori being mad that Shane was killed to the blatant hatred we are seeing now from Rick. And why does Carl hate Lori? That was never explained.

We also didn't see the development of Carl's character from small child who didn't want a gun last season to a kid who is now locked and loaded and running point on room to room zombie clearing missions. Honestly, at first I thought the opening scene was a dream sequence where Carl was imagining himself as a badass.

I would like to see more of what has happened over the winter, especially with Andrea and Michonne. Hopefully we will get some flashbacks.

Looks like Herschel will be playing the role of Dale in terms of losing his leg to a zombie bite.

They really pushed that first ep along, I'm hoping this doesn't mean that they plan to blow through the whole prison/woodbury storyline in just one season. Its way too good to only go for one season, especially since the stuff that follows afterwards doesn't even come close to matching it.

I'm not a fan of how they are choosing to tell the story of Michonne/Woodbury compared to the comics. In the comics Michonne stumbled on the prison when Rick and Co were already there. She joined them and became friends with them...and then all the stuff with the Governor went down. So she already had a connection to Rick and Co which made the stuff at Woodbury more powerful. Now it appears she will be an outsider to everyone except Andrea when all the Woodbury stuff starts to happen. Kinda weird that they would do that. But, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and see how it plays out.

Nice that we got to meet the inmates last night, although it looks like there are a lot mroe of them in the tv show than in the comic. I think there were only 4 in the comic.

Someone correct me if I am wrong here. When the horde attacked the farm during last seasons finale, they left the safety of the farmhouse because they said that a horde could tear the house down around them. Their big solution to that was to wander around for a whole winter and wind up behind a simple chain link fence and thank god how safe they finally are. Wouldnt a small horde of zombies be easily capable of breaking through a chain link fence?

As long as they clear out the zombie build up around the fence from time to time they should be ok.

Personally, I don't know why they ran into the yard like that and wasted all the ammo when they could've just lured the zombies to the fences and stabbed them through the fences as we saw them do several times. Sure it would take more time, but they waste no ammo and its infinitely safer.

It is a prison fence. I'm no expert, but I'm sure prison fences are set up in such a fashion where a bunch of inmates cannot simply lean on it to knock it down.

Yes and houses are built to not fall down if a bunch of people lean on it. If they were worried about a house being torn down from the zombies they should damn well be afraid of them knocking down a chain link fence.

I was wondering a similar thing. If they had no fear of the zombies getting thru the fence, they should have certainly saved the ammo and killed a bunch of them thru the fence and then used the hand to hand combat weapons to clear out the rest. It was a pretty big space with a lot of room to run around and avoid zombies.

The months that passed were on purpose, and Kirkland / Mazzara wanted characters to seem "different" than Season 2. This was made clear in Season 3 previews. I like it. Both have also said there will be no flashbacks / scenes from the 2 months that passed. For how big of a fan you are - I'm surprised you didn't know this.

Aside from watching the previews I don't pay attention to stuff.

We'll have to see how it plays out, storytelling seemed a little sloppy last night in terms of character development. Hope they don't do Michone's character a disservice. I also hope we don't have to wait too long for Michonne/Andre to be reunited with the group.

It wasn't just being worried about the zombies knocking down the house, it was the masses of them occupying the area and surrounding/hounding/eating them. Can't do much if you can't set foot out of the house.

I think some of the decision to let time pass was to attempt to justify how Carl looks years old. It didn't take too much away from the story to skip through winter, but would have looked weird having it pick up right where Season 2 ended with his physical changes.

Puberty is a b for child actors.

yeah, they are weaker although I think they are pretty strong once they get within the kill zone. One thing for certain, they have very powerful jaws. Ever tried to bite through someone's pants and into their leg? I have a bunch of times and it ain't that easy to do it with the ease that zombie did last night to Herschel.

Agreed, I think it was a good decision, but I'd like to see some explanation for how they got to this point physically/emotionally. Also, no reason why they can't show some flashbacks for Andrea/Michone. Would love to at least see their initial interactions.

I think you are missing my point. A prison fence isnt designed to withstand constant attack, it is deterrent to stop people from getting out and if a bunch of inmates went for the fence they would shoot them from the towers. In the case of the zombies they would just keep putting pressure on the fence and crushing it with their weight until it collapsed. They feared that happening to a solidly built house but they didnt fear it happening to a chain link fence. That is what I am trying to get at.

Either way it was fun to watch.

Can someone who has read the comics give me a quick overview of why the sword chick keeps 2 zombies on a leash? Unless it contains important spoilers. Are they used like pack animals or does she want to keep them around for some other reason.

They help disguise her from other zombies. She cut the jaws/arms off of them both so they are essentially harmless.

They'll hopefully do some flashbacks once they meet up with the group to give her character a lot more substance. Obviously last nights episode felt rushed, but hopefully it was just to set up the prison environment since everyone knew that was imminent and they'll take their time to hash out Woodbury/Governor etc.

Wasting an episode or two of this season just to get them into the prison would have been a lot worse than the way they went.

Found it On Demand so no big deal. I likely won't watch until Monday evenings anyway.
Good episode and that had to be right up there for most zombie kills in an episode. Pretty
good special effects when they were chopping zombie heads off. Hershel appears to be
a goner. That was brutal watching Rick hack that leg off. No idea what they are going to
do with the uninfected prisoners.

Michonne first appeared on the road at an unknown distance away from The Prison Clothed under a hood, she pulled the shackled zombies of her boyfriend and his best friend along by chain to act as a deterrent to the undead. She cut off their arms and lower jaws so that they wouldn't attack her.
