Ryne Sandberg. Built-in replacement for Sveum once the rebuilding has started to turn around. He descends from the booth and leads the Cubs to the World Series Championship, fulfilling the prophesy of Revelation 15:1. Then returns to the booth when the team gets old a few years later.

Or, my 3-man booth team of Len/Zimmer/Woo-Woo. Gold.

Not bad idea.

I'll second that. Not sure what Dave "Soup" Campbell is doing since he left ESPN Radio.

Frank, that's what they called him. Dave "Soup" Campbell would fit what the Cubs are seeking, even though he doesn't necessarily have a Cub connection.

Would be enjoyable, but too agey. And I don't think he'd mesh with Len.

He is easy on the ears and it sounds like baseball is happening when he talks. :thumleft:

This might sound out there...would the Cubs consider moving Keith Moreland over to TV and pair Kerry Wood with Pat Hughes on radio...That would give Wood to get his feet wet doing broadcasting.

Please don't wish this upon Cubs fans. 100+ years of suffering is enough. Kerry Wood has the personality of drying wallpaper.

Kerry Wood is basically Brian Urlacher without a lifetime of subconcussive head trauma.

I have heard Grace on interviews and do games. He may be a drunk but he is at least a competent broadcaster.

Here's the problem with Mark Grace. I think his DUI issues will prevent him from landing another MLB broadcast gig anywhere, including here. As for Rick Sutcliffe, two words...Tommy Chong.

K Wood = R Santo lite?

I see this as the path to least resistance for WCUB. I don't think I want it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened.

Keith Moreland is terrible. I wish they'd let Pat call the game solo rather than having him

Luckily I haven't caught many Cubs games on the radio the past few years. But when I do Keith Moreland is consistently awful.

Well, that's thinking outside the box. He'd fit right in with the Cubby Bear, Sluggers, Murphy's Bleachers & Sports Corner within walking distance.

It is official. Bob Brenly is indeed Arizona-bound. He and former ESPN "Baseball Tonight" host Steve Berthiaume will be the new voices of the Diamondbacks on FOX Sports Arizona.

I love that you corrected my Drinky spelling. I thought that I might have been missing a B. Matty does have personality to do it and knows baseball. But the Cubs brass wouldn't think he's big name enough. If this were to happen would Hawk not allowed to say his name during "one of those"?

I don't know why he popped in my head, but how about Jim Fregosi? Didn't he do some broadcasting? Or am I delusional? Nevermind, probably shouldn't have asked that question.

Edit: after a quick wiki look, I'm delusional. :(

Well, any name is fair game at this point, even if he has no Cub connections. I know for a fact ex-White Sox manager Jeff Torborg has done plenty of TV work. Ask Cardinals' radio voice and network veteran John Rooney.
