Degrees? They can't expect a 5th grader to know about tree graph theory, binary trees, or enumeration...Roots? Delta? There is always one of the 4 that doesn't quite fit.

DT a lot of schools are really into critical thinking. EX, they like giving kids 10 blocks and saying pick out 5 blocks. Then they say pick out 7 blocks. They like to see if the kid adds 2 or starts over and takes 7 blocks together. Not sure what it does. It was just important we came up with 7 blocks when I was growing up.

I can see that potentially being interesting if you're studying how to teach children on a case by case basis (realistically impractical in virtually all circumstances), but I would agree that I don't see an actual purpose in doing so. Saying they are encouraging critical thinking is great, though, I think. But I don't think we're that different in age, so I agree with the whole "get the answer however you get it" idea of teaching ... here's a few ways to do the same thing, choose what you like ... results, not effort, should be stressed. But these days, there's too many people that do not believe that 'activity doesn't equal accomplishment'.

God, am I really pissy tonight.

I don't think I'll share Don Tiny's Thoughts on the Education System with Dr. Ken Jr. II tonight.

I have to say I'm 41 years old (in this body) and I've spent over 50 years in college and I've never heard of branches of college.

But, that likely is the answer.

I can't wait for parent/teacher conferences because I might just straight-up jack somebody.

It implies he was well educated in his previous body

I can't believe how anxious I am to hear this answer. I asked a lot of people INCLUDING a retired college professor (of science though not english)

If it was "Davidian leader David Koresh" instead of "college," that would totally tip it in for me.

I'll have an answer to yesterday's question tomorrow.

Here's today's question (apparently you need to be a zoologist to pass 5th grade English) -

One of these is different than the others and then describe in what way the other 4 are the same.

weasel, cougar, deer, rat, bear

I think I know this one.

The other four have paws instead of hooves.

We'll go with the hooves thing. Thanks.

I just hope I'm not sporting a bumper sticker next quarter that says "KID CAIRO COST MY KID THE HONOR ROLL".
