Guys, it cannot be emphasized enough that CBS is trying to build a national sports radio network around Doug Gottlieb.

He was the first hire of the new CBS Sports Radio Network.

Bernstein is being a moron here...let's boot a good coach for no reason at all?!?! So by that premise, we should hire a shit coach just because this season may be a wash?

How are the Bulls gonna match up with the Knicks and Atlanta???

Holy fucking god their NBA thoughts are getting exponentially worse!

The Sixers are GOOD! Forget about the fact that Bynum hasn't been cleared to even run and looks like a homeless crackhead.

God these guys are fucking buffoons. People need to stop thinking they are better NBA talkers than anyone on the station. They are not.

 I will take odds that the Bulls finish with a higher seed than both the NYK and ATL

This fatalistic Bulls stuff from Bernstein wouldn't be half so bad if he actually, you know, said something. If you're just going to complain that Derrick Rose isn't 6'8'' you're wasting time that could be better spent telling people the proper way to think about cancer.

These Bulls will remain very competitive while Derrick Rose remains sidelined trying to come all the way back from a torn ACL. I'm not holding my breath that Rose plays 1 minute this year, even though I saw something on Comcast SportsNet this morning that Rose won't be back until March.

The Bulls might actually win the Central Division again this year, especially because other than Indiana, their division is just awful. Cleveland? Detroit? Milwaukee? Each of those teams aren't much better than the Bulls & Pacers.

As for the rest of the Eastern Conference, it's a crapshoot other than the Heat as far as the second best team in the conference is concerned. The Celtics aren't getting any younger. The Hawks aren't that great, this Andrew Bynum injury in Philadelphia might be a problem for them all season, Brooklyn has to get use to their new Barclays Center home & the Knicks still have huge egos with Carmelo Anthony & Amare Stoudemire. I wouldn't be as quick to dismiss these Bulls, even though things appear uneven until Rose returns.

yeah...today's Eastern Conference thoughts have not been....optimal.

Bernstein now saying Thibs is a glorified Skiles that teaches discipline and maturity and nothing else. What a basketball-ignorant thing to say. I guess this and saying Rose needs to grow 5 inches is what you are reduced to when you cant talk intelligently about Thibs defensive system or the Bulls excellent execution on in-bound plays and transition game compared to his predecessor.

Fuck it, I gotta ask, what is the difference between Mac and Bernsie's level of knowledge on the NBA? Mac clearly doesn't like it as much as Berns, but that's not what I'm asking. What does Berns ever say that leads you to believe he knows more about analyzing the game of basketball than Mac? To me, it's like comparing WWN and jimmypasta's basketball thoughts. Every time Berns talks about the NBA it becomes increasingly clear that he doesn't actually know anything about it. Like literally nothing.

Tom Thibodeau a glorified Scott Skiles wannabe? I've got news for Bernsy. Skiles is on borrowed time in Milwaukee. He's one of those coaches who might not last long this season.

well, I'll disagree with that. He's just completely overrating the Sixers for some reason, amongst others. It doesn't really matter what the Bulls do though, they can't beat the Heat. Perhaps Dan's concerned with Tibs being too Doug Collins-like and that he'll wear out before the Bulls can contend for a title again...

Use the amoeba defense to show hard on pick and roll and then blitz the ball handler off the weakside stagger screen with a hard double from the baseline mobile big in the triple post while yelling "ICE"

He overrates Atlanta and NY too. And basically everybody except BAD teams, apparently.

And no, that's not what Bernsie was saying. He was saying that his strength as a coach is teaching discipline and maturity and the Bulls were a veteran team that didn't need that type of coach. So once again, Bernsie was flat out wrong on an NBA related thought, like he always is.

That part I agree with Bernsy. These Bulls weren't about to beat the Heat for a trip to the NBA Finals, and I don't see that happening this season regardless of when Derrick does come back, if at all. Tom Thibodeau must be doing something right since he replaced Vinny Del Negro 2 seasons ago as Bulls' head coach. There have been very few times that a Thibodeau coached team hasn't been prepared to play.

My question is: is the fact that Thibs runs a ton of stuff no longer relevant?

Quick review of my basketball "thought": DRose is a superstar in the regular season who has failed either by poor performance in big games or getting injured to come through in the playoffs.

I don't know what everyone else is looking at.

As far as Thibs, the players seem to like him and his system. Twice having the best record in the NBA has to mean something.

Yes, and you've been repeatedly told that it's a bad thought.

This is why I used you as an example jimmy. You seem like an alright guy to have a beer with, but your basketball thoughts are atrocious.

Correct on Atlanta and NY. And correct on the correction on Bernsie. However, I do feel like Dan has good NBA thoughts generally. We'll agree to disagree. You don't like Hub either.

Is that where the meme comes from? I didn't listen much from 2008-2010. Vinny literally didn't run plays, so any coach is an improvement, but Thibs runs basic sets on offense. Nothing complicated or innovative. His defensive innovations are why he's considered a hugely influential coach.

Maybe it is a bad thought and I certainly don't know the NBA like a lot of you guys (or my son).

OK,back to your regular programming.

I wonder what would happen if someone called up and used Dan's Thibs logic to call for Lovie Smith's firing.

Well, where do we see these Bulls at the end of this 82-game regular season, with or without Derrick Martell Rose? I still think these Bulls win 50 ballgames this season and the Central Division title, but that's as far as that goes.
