Probably didn't agree with the "most of our lives" part. Before 2001, I don't think the muslim=terrorist sentiment was nearly what it is after 2001.

I'm not sure what you mean by being taught it. I doubt they teach you in school to identify every Muslim as a terrorist. But our society certainly perpetuates that stereotype. That's pretty much undeniable.

Those two sentences say different things. Ignorance is what causes some people to believe Muslim = Terrorist. There are a lot of ignorant people in our country. But no one is being conditioned to believe it. We aren't being taught it. It just so happens that America isn't a country full of utopian tolerance. We've still got segments in our society that can't accept people or ideas different than their own.

I meant "conditioned" as in things that are subliminally in our movies, TV shows and pop culture. No, it wasn't actively taught, but rather a suggested thing.

What alternate definition of conditioning are you using? Air conditioning? Hair conditioning?

Now, if we are talking classical conditioning, it clearly fits.
If we are talking operant conditioning, it fits because you did it to fit in with other kids.
Now, if we are talking air conditioning, it doesn't fit, but I do wonder why you thought that OKC was talking about HVAC stuff.
