Huh?

You don't believe that in this country there is a sentiment that Muslim=Terrorist? Chas is a perfect example of that way of thinking and it's more common than you'd think. I'm not saying I personally feel that way, but there are a lot of people who do.

Yeah Im not sure why IMU was confused by your post. Im pretty sure most people would agree, especially him.

Probably didn't agree with the "most of our lives" part. Before 2001, I don't think the muslim=terrorist sentiment was nearly what it is after 2001.

I'm not sure what you mean by being taught it. I doubt they teach you in school to identify every Muslim as a terrorist. But our society certainly perpetuates that stereotype. That's pretty much undeniable.

I do believe this.

I don't believe this.

Those two sentences say different things. Ignorance is what causes some people to believe Muslim = Terrorist. There are a lot of ignorant people in our country. But no one is being conditioned to believe it. We aren't being taught it. It just so happens that America isn't a country full of utopian tolerance. We've still got segments in our society that can't accept people or ideas different than their own.

I meant "conditioned" as in things that are subliminally in our movies, TV shows and pop culture. No, it wasn't actively taught, but rather a suggested thing.

We are conditioned to become successful professionals. We are conditioned to enjoy social gatherings. We are conditioned to endure terrible reality shows.

We aren't conditioned to be ignorant of other cultures. They attempt to each us about all cultures in school. Certain subsets of America continue to perpetuate the stereotype of Muslim = terrorist.

What movies and shows are you watching?

OK, well I just disagree with that. I think we are conditioned to think of Muslims as terrorists just as much as anything else in our society.

Except for the fact that you admitted to being conditioned to believe it and that is why you "gave Muslims a hard time".

Now, commence arguing that making fun of Muslim kids because others are doing it isn't conditioning.

Boss: I'm going to get right to the point. It has come to my attention that you and the cleaning woman have engaged in sexual intercourse on the desk in your office. Is that correct?

George: Who said that?

Boss: She did.

George: Was that wrong? Should I have not done that? I tell you I gotta plead ignorance on this thing because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here that that sort of thing was frowned upon, you know, cause I've worked in a lot of offices and I tell you people do that all the time.

Boss: You're fired.

George: Well you didn't have to say it like that.

Boss: I want you out of here by the end of the day.

So I'll just mention that is not what the post you've linked says, and move on.
Can you explain what conditioning is and how making fun of Muslim kids because others are making fun of Muslim kids is not conditioning? Here is a hint, concentrate on the part of the word that says "condition".

Roots hasn't held up well over time at all right now. I think it could be remade much better and more realistically today.

I haven't watched it in over 10 years. I would probably be pissed if it were remade. It would lessen it's significance in history...

It's not for my benefit. It is for yours. If you do not think that a condition of other people making fun of Muslims, and then you doing it too is not conditioning then it's clear you don't know what the word actually means.

Your ignorance is exactly what makes it conditioning! You are behaving a certain way because of a "condition" that is present. If that "condition" didn't exist, you would not have been doing it.

What is it earlier you said about some guys refuse to ever admit they were wrong?

You said you were only doing it because other kids you know did it. So, is it now your stance that you came to dislike Muslims on your own and not because of the effects of others around you?

What alternate definition of conditioning are you using? Air conditioning? Hair conditioning?

Now, if we are talking classical conditioning, it clearly fits.
If we are talking operant conditioning, it fits because you did it to fit in with other kids.
Now, if we are talking air conditioning, it doesn't fit, but I do wonder why you thought that OKC was talking about HVAC stuff.

I'm sure I would say yes to all 3 but to rank them I would say, Right Left Middle.
