Are you actively trying to say "Do not buy this product"? I mean, I get that Lebron won a title* but I'd be more likely to buy a product endorsed by terrible people like Rae Carruth, Sam Hurd, or Jay Cutler.

dude, would an endorsement from an unlikeable person really keep you from buying a product you want?
You know who shouldn't be endorsing products? Ray Lewis.

People love Ray Lewis. I understand that Chicago peeps may be jealous of the greatest linebacker of all time but he is a very marketable and likeable guy. #The U

Obstruction of justice. And it could have been, should have been, worse. Murder charges dropped for ratting.

That's a misdemeanor Darko.

My apologies. The murder charge wasn't. Dropped as he ratted out his pals. I guess he did what he had to do.

What did they stop you from buying that you were going to buy until they promoted it?

I always pass over the Wranglers when I'm shopping for pants. Now, maybe I wouldn't buy them normally, but I don't consider them. Kobe was always linked in my mind with Nutella, but I don't hate Kobe any more. I don't remember what Urlacher was selling, but there was a pretty long time that I didn't like him.

Ok, so basically you're telling me that the salespitchman didn't really prevent you from buying something you were going to buy.

Well, I don't have a machine that lets me see what my future would be like if Brett Favre were never born at all and I'm wearing Wranglers if that is what you mean.

There are things I will intentionally avoid if a certain person is the spokesperson.

Didn't you have an infamous thread with JORR where you argued advertising didn't effect you, that your system of buying products was completely merit-based?

So you're telling me Wrangler jeans but you're not sure you'd be a customer anyway. That's it?
You don't need a machine. You just need to tell me what product you used to buy, or you had in your hands to buy, then you stopped buying it or you exchanged it for a competing brand because you remembered which celebrity endorses them.
Not hard man. I don't really think you do that. I think if you're going to buy a product, you're going to buy it if you want it regardless of which meaningless ad campaign they run.
I could have sworn you said that advertising had no effect on you... wasn't there something to that?

No. I didn't say it didn't effect me. I said that I make the decisions and that advertising is a means by which I learn that products exist. I know that Wranglers exist now and I decide not to purchase them.

Because of Brett Favre is what you're telling me.
So you stopped buying them sometime around what 2009 or so when he started endorsing them?

I never said I stopped buying any product. I'm saying there are products I don't consider because of who endorses them. It's as simple as that.

Right, and when asking you what you won't consider all you've got is Wrangler jeans but you said that you might not have bought them anyway. I just think that's a very silly position, I think you're saying it simply for hyperbolic effect, and I don't really believe you think that way. It just isn't logical.

I would argue that Sam Hurd is not a terrible person, but rather a guy battling against an oppressive environment to provide a much needed community service.

My thoughts about my thoughts were wrong.

Actually, I think BRick finally admitted advertising does work on him.

This thought is very consistent. I never said advertising was meaningless. I'm saying that ultimately, I still make the decisions. I dislike Lebron enough to not want to purchase the products he sells.

I understand there are some people that will purchase a product because the fancy tv tells them that people will think you are cool if you have an iPhone, the perfume that Brad Pitt sells, and tight pants with "pink" on them but I don't. I learn and I'm reminded that products exist by advertising.

At a very basic level there are very few things a human being needs. Everything else is based upon demands created by advertising.

Feminine hygiene products are a great example. Pussies are self-cleaning, yet some shrewd ad man created demand by suggesting that a woman can feel "not so fresh" and so she does.

The problem is that the majority of the things I buy I have never seen a paid advertisement for.
