Ah.

I don't many CFB fans, of any team, that "love" the current system. I thought it was pretty universally hated.

Don't you know guys named Irish Boy and Boilermaker Rick?

 Touche...

Not sure IB loves the current system. He hates everything because in true Bernstein-fashion, he can formulate an argument that the "best" team never wins anything in any sport. Ever.

Neither one of them are Irish fans.

One team that ND fans rarely mention that could be a HUGE help:

UCLA.
If they win out, or even 2 out of 3, ND is "in".

I think IB is similar to you in fandom. Grew up an Irish fan and went to an Illinois school and now isn't sure who his team is.

Really? I never knew that. His ND-love must have shown before I came on board....

I thought he said something a few years ago about that being the inspiration for his moniker but he's strictly an Illinois fan now.

Props to you for not falling for the obvious bait... asshole.

1.) I am an Illinois fan first and foremost.

2.) I grew up an Irish fan and generally wish them well.

3.) I like the current system because Alabama losing yesterday didn't just become a matter of seeding. I also like it because Alabama losing felt like a rare event, not just another 1 seed losing in the divisional round of the playoffs.

4.) Don't ever, ever call me Bernstein-like.

And actually the moniker is not ND-based. It has no real reason. I just needed a name to sign up and that was the first thing that popped up.

This is my opinion too.

I also like the bowl game system, and a playoff more than 4 teams would turn the bowls into the NIT in terms of importance.

I either want a 2 team playoff, 4 team playoff, or 16 team playoff.

So if all 3 undefeated teams win out is there any way ND jumps over either ?

The lack of attendance and coaches routinely leaving their teams before bowl games for new jobs shows how much people care about them.

Are you arguing with me that it's wrong that I like the bowl system?

I don't care about attendance. That's because there are too many bowls. The good bowl games do well. As for coaches leaving, I also don't care. That's just because of recruiting.

I would say Bowl games already have an NIT level of importance.

Tell that to the teams who had a goal of making the Rose Bowl this year.

You are just flat out wrong. There really is no other way to say it. The bowls are still incredibly important.

That's because they have nothing else to play for.

Would the goal be to make the Rose Bowl if there was a 16 team playoff like every other level of football?

Or if a Big Ten team was undefeated, do you really think they'd rather play in the Rose Bowl than the National Championship?

I prefer a 16 team playoff to the bowl system, because it gives every team a legitimate chance to get in. An 8 team playoff does not.

You do realize the national title game is part of the bowl system right? Of course they'd rather be in the title game.

Did you miss the part where I said I prefer a 2 team, 4 team, or 16 team playoff? You quoted it.

Let me be clear that he was flat out wrong that the current bowl system = NIT. The Rose Bowl is still a huge deal. So are many other bowls.

Yes, they will figure out a way to get ND in the top 2 if they all win out.

Oregon gets a TO and KState scores at almost the exact same second. :?

Oregon offense looks sluggish.
